Maybe Dane Cook was right last night when, at the MTV Movie Awards, he said, "Paris Hilton was so offended by Sarah Silverman's opening remarks that she checked herself into jail early." Shortly after the Awards, Paris turned herself in to the L.A. County Sheriff. The surrender took place away from the the jail because the waiting paparazzi posed safety concerns. Paris rode to the surrender point with her attorney, her mom, and sister Nicky. Paris' lawyer released a statement to TMZ from Hilton: "I am ready to face the consequences of violating probation. During the past few weeks, I have had a lot of time to think and have come to realize I made some mistakes." Hilton added, "This is an important point in my life and I need to take responsibility for my actions. In the future, I plan on taking more of an active role in the decisions I make. I want to thank my family, friends and fans for their continued support. Although I am scared, I am ready to begin my jail sentence." So even though she's taking responsibility, she's still kind of blaming her people for not telling her she couldn't drive. The first step is admitting a problem - she seems to only be able to admit she was told she could drive ... too fast ... without headlights.
