Read before Bed
Switch off your phone or tablet for a book before bed. Rather than stimulating your brain it actually provides a pleasant and fast way to help calm it down after the hyperactivity of the day. You will physically feel yourself start to drift off after only a few pages, and your brain won’t be working itself up over an electronic screen.
Same Time
Make sure that you commit to having a regular ‘go to bedtime’. Even if you aren’t particularly tired one evening, it really helps to get your body in the repetition of laying to rest at 10pm or 10:30pm every night. You will start to develop a rhythm of rest that makes you feel much more lively in the mornings.
No Booze
Try to avoid alcohol in the few hours leading up to bedtime. For clean sleeping, a nightcap is the opposite of what you want to be doing. It might help you sleep initially, but it can mess up the rhythm of your metabolism which can lead to waking up halfway through the night. The more alcohol you drink, the more restless your sleep will be.
Copper Infused Pillow
They are something of luxury, but it is really worth it to push the boat out and invest in a copper infused pillow. Copper oxide fibres can help to reduce the appearances of wrinkles and fine age lines, so not only are you getting more restful sleep thanks to the other tips, but you are also helping yourself in terms of beauty and anti-aging.
Sleep Cycle App
Put your schedule in the hands of an automated data collector in the form of one of the many great sleep cycle apps that are available for smartphone and tablet. They can do really amazing things like track your natural resting hours, set alarms to wake you at your lightest moments, and even provide a gentle bedside vibration to prematurely begin the waking up process for you so that you don’t have to be shocked awake by a loud alarm.
