8 Movies I Watch over and over ...

There are movies I can watch over and over, no matter how many times I’ve seen them -- you probably have favorite movies you can do that with, as well. I was thinking about them the other day and realized there aren’t that many -- there are far more books that I’ll read dozens of times -- but I really don’t ever get tired of the ones that made it on the list.

This is my absolute favorite movie of all time, and I just came across it on HBO one night a few years ago. A lot of people think it’s kind of kitsch, but I think it’s marvelous. The soundtrack is the most amazing soundtrack ever and some of the songs are almost impossible to find, but each one complements the scene it accompanies flawlessly. I quote from this movie, I practically have it memorized, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I mean the version starring Audrey Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart here. I haven’t even seen the remake, I won’t see it, if it was the last movie on Earth, I’d watch the grass grow instead. I love Audrey Hepburn so much, and I love every minute of this movie. I still hold my breath and hope she ends up with Bogie.

Audrey again -- but who can blame me? I can read this story again and again as well, and contrary to what usually happens, I don’t mind the differences between the two. I think Truman Capote was the bee’s knees but he was dead wrong in thinking Marilyn Monroe would have made a better Holly Golightly. There’s a reason Audrey Hepburn cemented her status as a fashion icon with this film.

This movie comes on the Oxygen Channel and WE a lot lately, it seems like, and I’ve got no complaints. The book is on my list of must-reads, but until then, I’m quite happy to watch this movie any time it’s on -- even several times in a row, if need be, because I’m constantly missing the beginning or the end. I think Diane Keaton is amazing, and I love any pairing between Bette Midler and Sarah Jessica Parker, plus Goldie Hawn is still a goddess to me.

I read the book a lot and see the movie even more. I have a serious fetish for Anthony Hopkins and Hannibal Lecter, so I am especially happy when they come together. However, even more than this movie, I can watch --

6 Hannibal

-- I can watch the sequel again and again. The thing is, I have serious problems with the movie, namely the character of Clarice, her actions, and the ending. As those things compare to the book, there’s just no contest. That said, however, the role of Hannibal himself in this movie, the settings, the cinematography, the soundtrack -- all of these things make it compelling to me, and I will watch over and over for those reasons. Still, the book is ten times more amazing.

7 I Love You, Man

I am a fan of Jason Segal and Paul Rudd, and I think they need to only star in movies with each other now. I love this flick for being so quotable, for making me literally laugh out loud, for the pairing of Sidney and Pete, and for a million other reasons. But again, it does not even compare to my love for the next movie.

I watch this movie so much. If I see it on, I watch it -- and if I don’t see it on but want to watch it, I whine about not owning the DVD (and hopefully soon will actually remedy the situation). I love every scene. This movie even made me like Russell Brand. I cackle when I watch this. It actually makes a bad day better.

I now want to go watch every single one of these and I can’t. I think I know what my plans are going to be next weekend though. Are there any movies out there you’ve watched a million times and counting?
