7 of My Favorite Friendship Quotes ...

By Aprille

I've made a number of friends over the years, with most of my closest friendships being made in my adult years. I find that friends are just as important as family. In fact, I have a few friends whom I consider to be family members. I searched the net for some quotes I thought reflected how I felt about friendship. Here are 7 of my favorite friendship quotes.

7 The Better Part of One’s Life Consists of His Friendships. – Abraham Lincoln

I don't think many people would expect a memorable quote about friendship to come from a president. Lincoln merely stated what I've found to be a fact in my lifetime. It seems like most of my life has evolved around the many friends I've made.

I've always considered most of my friends to be gifts. My friends make me happy and gifts always bring the same sort of smile to my face, so why can't friends be thought of as gifts? I think they totally can!

5 If You Judge People, You Have No Time to Love Them. – Mother Teresa

I know too many people who spend their days judging others, instead of enjoying the time they have with one another. This is sad to me. Life is too short to waste time judging others and filling one's life with negativity. Love your friends while you have them.

Have you ever had something bad happen? How many of your friends stayed by your side during this time? I think those individuals are the epitome of true friends. People who only hang around you when you are happy and succeeding in life seem to be merely along for the ride.

3 My Best Friend is the One Who Brings out the Best in Me. – Henry Ford

This is so true! I think a best friend is someone who compliments your personality and you both make each other shine. I also like that it was Henry Ford who said this quote. People tend to remember him for his contribution to the automotive industry, but not for his views on friendship.

2 Friends Are the Sunshine of Life. – John Hay

Sunshine is generally considered to be a good thing to most people, as are friends. I like that John Hay compared friends to sunshine. Friends brighten up your day, make you feel warm, and usually make you smile just like the sun does.

Mark Twain was the person who came up with this quote. Isn't it more enjoyable to share your joy with someone else? I always feel even more elated when I get to share something exciting with a friend. And although grief can take care of itself, it's still easier to take when there's a friend at your side to life your spirits when you need it most.

It was hard to choose which of these quotes to put as my number one favorite. Out of these 7 of my favorite friendship quotes, which would you put as number one? Feel free to share a quote on friendship that you've come across.
