7 Books I Would like to Read ...

I’d have to say that reading is my second favorite thing to do. I usually happen upon many good books by roaming through the library and picking up novels with interesting covers. There are a few books my grandmother passes on to me that are excellent reads as well. These 7 books I would like to read were chosen from a handful of book reviews I recently read.

7 Perfect by Natasha Friend

Perfect by Natasha Friend Price: $10.41 at amazon.com
I often find books dealing with personal pain and suffering to be rather difficult to read. However, this book sounds like it supplies a more witty approach to the often touchy subject of bulimia. The main character is named Isabella. Her mom forces her to join a group designed for people with eating disorders. Isabella is bummed about going, but actually perks up a bit to find out that the ‘leader’ of the most popular girls in school is going to the same group meeting.

Frequently asked questions

6 Cross Fire by James Patterson

Cross Fire by James Patterson Price: $15.10 at amazon.com

Of the many Alex Cross mysteries I’ve read, there haven’t been any that I’ve found to be disappointing. From the review I read on this book, the reader receives important information before the main character in the story does. For his twelfth book in this series, it sure sounds just as exciting as the others were! Kyle Craig, a nemesis of Alex Cross, also makes an appearance in this book.

5 Be More Chill by Ned Vizzini

Be More Chill by Ned Vizzini Price: $7.99 at amazon.com
This is a rather sci-fi type of book, which I like to read from time to time. The story revolves around a high school student named Jeremy who is considered to be somewhat of a geek. He finds out there is something that will help him to be more ‘cool’. It is a computer chip known as a squip. Once he ingests the computer chip, Jeremy will be more at ease around girls, more fun at parties, and basically a guy who fits in a bit better with the ‘in’ crowd.

4 The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown

The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown Price: $9.99 at amazon.com

The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons were two of the best books I’d read in a long time. I don’t see how this book by the same author could be any less fantastic. Robert Langdon is also in this novel. He is forced to use his vast knowledge of symbology and his excellent problem-solving skills to unravel a secret hinted at during the very first chapter of this book. I seem to gravitate towards mysteries and this book definitely falls into that category.

3 Forever in Blue: the Fourth Summer of the Sisterhood by Ann Brashares

Forever in Blue: the Fourth Summer of the Sisterhood by Ann Brashares Price: $7.99 at amazon.com

I read the first book in this series of 4 when my younger sisters passed it on to me. I was hooked and ended up reading the next two very quickly. I don’t know why, but I lost track of time and never knew there was a fourth one that came out in 2007. I was thrilled to find out that the series continues and look forward to reading this last installment.

2 Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen

Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen Price: $8.97 at amazon.com

Jacob Jankowski tells his story of how he ran away and joined the circus at age 21. The story doesn’t sugar coat things and make it seem like the circus is all lights, music, and happy clowns. This book tells of the hardships of Jacob during his life with the circus, as well as the horrible conditions the animals are in. Supposedly the ending of the book is well worth the grueling situations the reader encounters in all the rest of the pages of this book.

1 Someone like You by Sarah Dessen

Someone like You by Sarah Dessen Price: $8.99 at amazon.com

I’ve read a few other books by this same author and the review on this particular one sounded promising. This story is about Halley. Her best friend is Scarlett and they are very close to one another. Scarlett’s boyfriend is killed in a motorcycle accident and she finds out she’s carrying his child. Halley has always sort of been in Scarlett’s shadow and this is one time when Scarlett truly needs Halley to be by her side.

Maybe one of these 7 books I would like to read also interest you. If you’ve already read some of these, please let me know what you thought of them. I’m always thankful for any helpful input when it comes to finding if a book is worth my time or not. What books have you recently heard about that you’d like to read?
