Designer John Galliano totally changed Christian Dior’s new look into the anything goes look. Does the same thing hold true for his latest collection which was showcased at the runways of Paris?
The theme for the Christian Dior Spring 2009 collection was “Tribal Chic”. Before doling out the verdict, let’s see what the rockin’ designer has in store for Dior loyalists.

When I first heard the theme “Tribal Chic”, I was expecting to see a lot of animal prints and wildly sexy clothes. Instead, John Galliano paraded dresses with a cinched waist and sheer skirts. The same thing can be seen at the evening gown collection, only they’re longer. Python jackets and spotty animal prints were also present.
All in all, the look that the label predicts the year 2009 would be is provocative with a capital P.

I love this collection as I always love all of Galliano’s creations. He’s always been my favourite designer. But I do have one criticism: As a thin girl myself, I have no problem with very thin girls as I know that a girl can be quite petite without necessarily having a disorder. But in this case, I noticed a few models that are maybe just a bit too skinny. They all have beautiful faces and carry off the clothes exquisitely, but look at the tan girl in the red dress with the blonde bangs (near the end, just before the evening wear), look at her legs. I don’t think this is sending out the right signals. A slightly “chubbier” model would have modelled that dress just as well, if not better. As I say, I don’t have the same opinion of all the models on this show, I think most are fine, and I adore this collection, but I just thought I should just express my opinion.
Thanks for this topic and thank you to all the stalkers on the site, I love it! xx
