1. Eat the Rainbow!
When it comes to eating things that are going to be good for you on the inside and on the outside, you should be aiming to eat the entire rainbow in terms of colors. With fruit and vegetables, you should be looking to consume as many different varieties and colors as you can, from green to orange to yellow to red and blue! The foods to avoid are those that contain high amounts of sugar, saturated fats - mostly processed foods that would be classed as junk foods.
2. Protect Your Precious Skin from the Sun’s Rays
People do not always understand that even though it is not 100 degrees outside, their skin is still at risk of damage from the UV rays that the sun emits. Always make the effort to wear sunscreen if you know you are going to be outside for an extended period of time, and if you are smoker, I really encourage you to quit or at least cut down: smokers tend to have much worse skin than non-smokers.
3. It’s an Oldie but Still a Goodie - Exercise!
Not only does exercise have a positive physical effect on your body in terms of weight management and muscle toning, but it also cannot be underestimated how much better it can make you feel emotionally. The endorphins that are released as a result of extended moderate exercise can make you feel like you are on top of the world; hopefully you will become addicted!
4. Take Some Time out of the Firing Line
Today’s work schedule combined with an active social life can often be the recipe for large amounts of stress, and stress does no good for both your physical and mental well-being. If you can, give yourself an hour or so a day to completely unplug and rewind, whether that is through have a luxurious bubble bath or doing something more organized like yoga or meditation. It is really worth it.
5. Get as Much Regular Sleep as You Can
Having a regular sleeping routine is essential to both physical and mental health, as sleep has been described as a skin savior; a time when you can apply a few products and leave them to work their magic. Also, giving your body the chance to recharge its batteries for 7 or 8 hours means that you have much more energy throughout the day.
6. Drink Plenty of Water
It is absolutely essential that you stay hydrated throughout the day. The recommended amount is 8 glasses of water per day, and reaching this target can help to maintain clear skin as well aiding with internal processes like metabolism and weight management and cell health.
7. Don’t Worry, Be Happy!
Try your best to have a positive outlook on life rather than a negative one. A little optimism can go a long way. Try to banish all negative thoughts from your mind and instead look for the positive in everything. You might find that your entire life starts to shift in a more healthy and positive way. So you can see – no secrets! Just good old-fashioned yet perfectly good advice that everyone can follow.
