One of the best walks in Scotland is the the popular Ben A'an in the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs national park. It has excellent panoramic views, especially over Loch Katrine which is the birth place of Scottish folk hero Rob Roy McGregor, and the setting of Sir Walter Scott’s poem “The Lady of the Lake”, and the city of Glasgow’s water supply. Situated in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, this hike leads you through an ancient Caledonian pine forest to a green colored lochan before raising slightly uphill where there are splendid views over Glenmore forest towards the Cairngorm Mountains. Right in the heart of Edinburgh, this hike has excellent panoramic views over the city. It has been speculated that it could have been the site of Camelot, the mythical castle of King Arthur. Also, It is an extinct volcano. Photo credit - davidmcgonigal

Dollar Geln is set in the shadows of the Ochil hills and is a magnificent walk leading through woodland and past a series of small waterfalls before eventually coming out at one of Scotland’s most picturesquely set castles, the 15th century Castle Campbell. Photo credit - lauragillartwork

Another Munro made easy by a high start point, it is often climbed along with its ridge which makes for a much more challenging hike. Situated in Highland Perthshire, this hike has excellent views over its ridge’s pointed peaks as well as down the beautiful Loch Tay. Photo credit - davidmcgonigal

A beautiful garden made to commemorate the Korean War can be found at the bottom of the hill and is built in the shape of the Ying and Yang and contains a Korean style pagoda as well as 110 Korean fir trees, each representing 10 fallen British soldiers. Cockleroy Hill is located just outside the town of Linlithgow and has views over famous sights such as Linlithgow Palace, the Forth rail bridge, the Ochil hills, and Loch Lomond & the Trossachs national park. It was once the site of a Bronze Age hill fort. Photo credit - davidmcgonigal

An underrated hill situated at the side of the Drumochter pass, this one is right on the edge of the Cairngorms national park. Despite being classified as a Munro (Scotland’s highest category of mountain referring to a mountain that is above 914 m/3000 feet) it is fairly quick to climb due to the starting point of the hike also being quite high.
