Royal Wedding: Get Ready to Party!

After the darkness of a recession, the British Government is keen to make the Royal Wedding an amazing event enjoyed by all. As well as setting up screens across London, and providing cake and Pimms, Prime Minister David Cameron is also encouraging people to arrange Wedding themed street parties, just like the ones held for Diana and Charles’ wedding.

The Local Government Association has announced that they have received 5,000 requests for street closures, with 1,000 being submitted in the last week alone. In London, 800 applications have been received, and Hertfordshire have submitted 298 requests. The Association has asked for people to submit applications as soon as possible, so they can consider each case in time, but have approved most of the requests they have received. Which means over 5,500 street parties should be celebrating the big day, alongside the main parties and additional events in cul-de-sacs, pubs and community centres.

I can’t wait to get the bunting out and make some Union Jack decorated definitely feels like party time, and I’ve already got my flags out! Are you celebrating the Royal Wedding? I’d love to hear your plans!
