REVIEW John Frieda Luminous Color Glaze

I know, I know.

My REVIEWabout Clairol's Shine Happy, wasn't shall we say, all that happy.

So, upon reading in April's Shape magazine about John Frieda's COLOR GLAZE ($10.00), I'm so hoping this will give me the super shiny hair without the peroxide woes that my colored hair is wishing for.

You apply this after you shampoo and condition your hair, leave on wet hair and then rinse. What can be more simple than that?

Product Info:
Ammonia and peroxide free
Not a permanent hair color
Will not lift or lighten hair color
Gel-cream that's easy to apply
Leaves on a slight layer of color and gloss and lasts with continued use

Could this be the solution my colored hair is looking for?

Website says a minimum of three times per week, to achieve your ideal result. Color results intensify over time. You can actually apply this stuff after each shampoo if you wish.

Website Application Tip:
Wash your hands immediately after applying this stuff.
Let sit for 3 minutes.
Rinse.

Sound easy enough.

Well, upon using it, first thing I notice is that it's not really a "gel-cream". It's really very liquidy, as in it easily runs through your fingers. And it's a colored "gel-cream". Mine was the "Chestnut to Espress" and it comes out a very dark brown. So I apply it to my hair and it's literally all over the shower curtain and shower walls. But not to worry. It rinses off very easily. And yes, you do need to wash your hands right away because you can see it staining your palms. But again, it washes off very easily. The first thing I thought of was, well, I'm in the shower, I have no mirror. What if I got it on my face, or my back? Then what? So I rinsed as best as I could. Wait 3 minutes, and then rinse off. Kinda what I liked was the fact that you apply after your conditioner. And after I was through rinsing, I noticed that my hair did have a very slight tacky (for lack of a better word) feel to my hair, but not what you'd think. You can tell there's something on your hair, but it's not thick, sticky, or anything like that. You just notice it there.

So, just like in my review with Clairol's Shine Happy, I decide to let my hair air dry and see what results will magically await me the next morning. (I rarely blow dry my hair. I usually let it sit in a towel for a while, then go to bed with damp hair and I wake up with my usual wavy hair. A quick style in the am and I'm ready to go....)

So as I'm waiting for my hair to dry, I notice that it's drying super fast. And hair feels smooth to the touch. So far so good! And the next morning? Hair is definitely much thicker feeling, and looks great. Color I've noticed that it brings out reddish chestnut highlights a bit more, and as far as shine? Hmmm, not so much. But hair feels better, thicker, and cooperates with me.

I just may have a keeper!
