Nordstrom Offers Jeffrey a Full-time Gig

Nordstrom is taking a more serious approach to designer fashion. They have announced that fashion guru Jeffrey Kalinsky, founder of the chic Jeffrey New York and Jeffrey Atlanta stores will move from being a part-time adviser to having a full-time job in the company as the director of designer merchandising. His new gig involves working with the merchants of women's and men's designer apparel, shoes and accessories and guiding the overall designer experience at Nordstrom. Nordstrom has in return increased its ownership in the Jeffrey stores and Kalinsky will remain President of Jeffrey stores.

What does this mean for the shopper? It should mean that Nordstrom, which hasn't been as aggressive at pursuing high-level designer brands as say Bergdorf Goodman or Barney's is probably trying to step up their game a bit and we should see edgier labels in Nordstrom stores and an increased commitment to designer labels.
