Oval Face Shape

Flattering cuts: Any! You are lucky enough to have a face that suits almost all styles!

Cuts to avoid: Almost every style will flatter, so only avoid the ones you don’t like.
Celebrities with this face shape: Monica Bellucci, Cameron Diaz, Tyra Banks
My best friend has an oval face shape, and, boy, isn't she lucky! No matter how she wears her hair, it looks just perfect. Over the past couple of years she has tried it all - bangs like Rihanna, side-swept bangs, a classic bob, long straight hair without volume, long straight hair with volume, up-does, curls - you name it. So, if you are just as lucky as her, go to your stylist and ask for any cut you want… you'll look gorgeous no matter what! Did I mention my friend can pull off ANY shape of sun glasses too? What can I say, having an oval face shape is like winning genetic lottery - you'll be destined to look fab!

Face Shape: round

Flattering cuts: Anything face framing. Bangs and layers will slim the face. Choose a length that’s longer than your chin to make your face look slim and full
Cuts to avoid: Short bobs, Blunt cuts
Celebrities with this face shape: Charlotte Church, Drew Barrymore
My mum has a round face, and always looks amazing when she’s had her hair done. I love the way layers and fluffy bangs frame her face, and she looks amazing with her hair tied up, too! She has the cutest oblong sunglasses, too, which give her face more definition. I’m definitely jealous of how well she manages to carry off any length layers.

3

Face Shape: Oblong

Flattering cuts: Fluffy bangs and a short cut. Shoulder length with waves and volume
Cuts to avoid: Hair that’s too long, Hair that’s very flat
Celebrities with this face shape: Liv Tyler, Gwyneth Paltrow
Don’t you just love Liv Tyler’s hair? My sister copied it the first time she got to choose her own hair style, and it looked so gorgeous, she’s stuck with it ever since! She does struggle with it when she doesn’t have time to wash it every morning, though, as flat hair can be so hard to style! Nothing a fewhair products can't fix though. If you’ve got an oblong face, make sure you keep it clean and regularly trimmed, to keep it as gorgeous as possible!

Face Shape: Heart

Flattering cuts: Pixie cuts, Ear length bob, Shoulder length hair with layers
Cuts to avoid: Straight bangs, Styles that remove all hair from your face
Celebrities with this face shape: Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Love Hewitt
I love short hair on people with heart shaped faces! I think it’s the perfect face shape, and it looks so glamorous! If you’ve never tried it, then I urge you to seriously consider giving a pixie cut or bob a try. It’s easy to maintain, looks so chic and will really emphasize your features...if you can’t contemplate going that short, keep your hair sitting on your shoulders and mix with lots of chin length layers. You’ll look stunning!

5

Face Shape: Square

Flattering cuts: Blunt cuts, that are just below shoulder length, Feathery bangs
Cuts to avoid: Anything super short
Celebrities with this face shape: Demi Moore, Jessica Simpson
Jessica Simpson is so pretty, but I’ve always thought she could look even more gorgeous if she was a bit bolder in her haircuts, and chose a long, blunt finish. It’d look so stunning! If you’re not brave enough to go blunt just yet, try mixing in small layers, and straightening it for that perfect finish.

Face Shape: Diamond

Flattering cuts: A blunt, shoulder length cut, Wispy bangs in long hair, Wavy, chin length hair

Cuts to avoid: Anything shorter than your cheek bones, Anything with too much volume
Celebrities with this face shape: Kate Moss, Sophia Loren
I have a diamond face, and I originally hated it. I didn’t think I’d ever find a hairstyle that suited me, and deliberately avoided hair dressers for about two years! Then I found my current hairdresser, who despite me wanting only a trim, spent hours cutting wispy bangs and floaty layers into my hair, while keeping it long. I loved it, and he was thrilled that he’d made me love hair again! He made me realise that you may end up with a bad haircut sometimes but it's hair. It will grow back! My only issue with my hair is that it is difficult to style, though, as too much volume makes me look like I’ve slept in a wind tunnel.

This is great, but I've got an irritating problem, and that is that I don't know wich one I am. Could you please do a post where you say how you can see wich one you are? That would be so great (:

I am planning on donating my hair soon ( have been growing out for over two years now) and this is really helpful. I always fear a shorter style but your recommendations are cute! :)

Very cute Sheila...I am laughing here as I am reading your comments...though very true. Theo, I must commend you for donating your hair. That is such a kind gesture, which will make someone very proud to have hair on their head again, and boost their self esteem.

I love my heart shaped face! However my hair is naturally curly, and it makes things a little bit complicated. It looks best a bit above shoulder length but I haven't been daring enough to go much shorter since a bad cut in the 7th grade. I might try a curly bob, we'll see. I'm not too keen on straightening my hair. My hair isn't like most naturally curly hair... its very healthy, very shiny, and very soft... only frizzing in extremely hot, humid weather. I always get compliments on it so I don't want to straighten. We'll see!

lol, I got my haircut today, and for the first time it's fab! <3 I dunno which shape am I, but my haircut suits me.. :D :D :P

Simply...the best and short article about hairtyles!!!! i loved it!!! :)

I hope I can finally cut my hair this Saturay ( I will be posting some new photos of my blog then) but I can't believe it's such a hard job. I've been trying to get an appointment on my hair stylist for about a month now, but everytime something comes up. Now she lost her passport and she can't return in the country ( she went to her country of birth for the X-mas vacation). My hair wants a change....now :)
