Diesel's New Ad Campaign Targets Global Warming

Riding high on the issue of global warming is Diesel who have centered their latest advertising campaign around the plight of climate change. Titled "Global Warming Ready", the Italian clothing designer, in conjunction with environmental movement stopglobalwarming.org, have produced a series of ads featuring different famous locations set behind the impact of global warming, for example, rising sea levels. Well known for jumping on the controversial bandwagon, Diesel's latest campaign seems pointless. Not only is the commercial completely disjointed but it fails to hint at any viable solution to an ongoing and serious worldwide threat. In a statement Diesel said, "we are only a fashion company and do not think that with just one campaign we can save the world..." (Too right!) "... But if our unconventional tone of voice and the reputation of our brand can grab and hold people's attention a little longer than a news feature can, make them think twice about the consequence of all our actions and realise our individual responsibility, then something at least will have been accomplished."

What do you think? Is the new Diesel campaign sending out the right or wrong message?
