Burberry's Welsh Factory Closes Its Doors

We have been following the drama surrounding the closure of the Welsh arm of Burberry since September last year and today the Treorchy factory in Southern Wales will sadly close its doors for good. The last time we posted about it, the factory was set to be donated to the local community, however it seems the fashion label's decision to switch its production to China is final. The official closure has forced 300 staff out of their jobs with workers planning to finish their last day by marching on from the factory gates to rally in the town. Celebrities including Ioan Gruffudd and MPs have been fighting to keep the site open since the beginning. "It is very depressing that Burberry has been so determined to close the factory," said Rhondda MP Christ Bryant. Unfortunate news for the people of Treorchy and for local business in general.
