For those of you that are in debt, you need to learn how to turn your life back on the right track and get out of debt. Right now, I am going to give you 9 tips to get out of debt …
9. Cut Those Credit Cards
That’s right, take that credit card out of your wallet right now, grab the scissors and cut that thing! I don’t care. You do not need it and really, you do not want it, unless, of course, you want a high interest rate and get even further into debt. Credit cards are no good and those companies try whatever they can to suck people in – don’t fall for it.
8. Don’t Overpay Your Debt
Sure, I do believe in paying off your debt, but there is a such thing as overpaying it. You should make sure you leave enough money for other expenses as well or you could end up sinking further in the hole.
7. Avoid Eating out
If possible, avoid eating out. By cooking your own meals, you will be saving money. You should only go to those fancy restaurants for special occasions.
6. Learn to Balance Your Books
Not only should you learn how to balance your books, but you should be more organized with your money. Come up with a spreadsheet each month of the bills you have and when they are going to be paid.
5. Change Yourself
For those that have a spouse that is spending too much, you should first start by changing yourself. After this, sit down and speak with your spouse about their spending habits. Be nice about it, don’t point fingers.
Look around your house and think about the things you do not need. Hey, while you are at it, I believe you just left a light on in the other room – I think you should go shut it off, because it is not needed. You see, by shutting the bulb off when it is not in use, you will be saving money on your electricity. Now, let’s take it a step further – do you really need that expensive cable television?
3. Leave Yourself Some Wiggle Room
There are times where life tosses us some pretty nasty curve balls and if you do not get paid every day, you need to leave yourself some wiggle room or you could end up being knocked down.
When you get bonuses or get money for overtime, don’t think about all the nice things you could buy, because it is extra money. Instead, think about taking that extra money and putting it towards your debt – by doing this, you will be helping to pay off your debt.
1. Use Coupons
For those of you trying to get out of debt, you may want to start using those coupons. Believe it or not, coupons will help you save money.
Those are 9 tips to get out of debt. I do hope you use them and remember, once you come up with a plan, you need to stick with it. So, do you have any other tips to add?
