Some people argue that sugar is more addictive than alcohol and nicotine, the main reason being that sugary goods, such as chocolate and cakes, taste so good. So here are 7 tips to kick the sugar habit.

Often people use artificial [sweeteners](https://eatial.com/unrefined-sweeteners/) because they believe them to be better than sugar. In many cases this is not these case and they hold lots of sugar and other ingredients in them that are not good for your body. Try to refrain from using these sweeteners.

Often I find that if I have chocolate bars or cakes in my house then I will eat them but if they are not there then I do not crave for them. So why not try removing all of these types of items from your home and this should help stop your craving them.

Honey is very similar to fruit, mention in tip number three, and is very good for you. It contains natural sugars that your body does not need to work at breaking down. If you cut down on eating some cakes, chocolate, sweets and so on, it is only normal that you would loose a bit of weight too. This is usually one of the reasons why many people want to reduce their sugar in take.

Fruit harbours a lot of natural sugar which is good for your body, so what not try substituting some of your artificial sugar with this. In my opinion fruit does give you a lot of energy and it makes you feel healthier too.

It is important that you do not attempt to go cold turkey, especially if you are use to eating a lot of sugary goods as this is likely to make your craving even worse. In my opinion if you slowly cut down on this type of food you are likely to stick to your guns more.

## 1. Think of the Damage Being Done to Your Teeth

So many people do not take the time to think about the damage that all of this sugar is doing to their teeth. Sweets, chocolate, cakes and other sugary goods, if eaten in large quantities can cause cavities and even cause your teeth to rot. In my opinion there are a lot tastier foods out there that do not have the same damaging effects on our bodies.
