7 Songs to Inspire a Happy Mood ...

All right, I have to confess, not all of the following songs are cool. They are the songs that make me happy, even if they're not the sorts of songs I usually listen to. Some of them are awesome, some of them are cheesy, but they're all on my playlist. I hope these 7 songs to inspire a happy mood can make you happy too!

1

“Always Running out of Time,” Motion City Soundtrack

This song is from the “soundtrack” attached to Tim Burton's awesome Alice in Wonderland. It allowed me to hear Motion City Soundtrack for the first time, and I promptly fell in love. This song is my absolute favorite. The melodies, the sing song tone, and the wonderful, poetical nonsense lyrics always lift my spirits.

“1234,” Feist

Remember when this song was everywhere because of that commercial? What was it, iPod, iTunes? iDon'tRemember, but whatever the case, I promptly got this fun, poppy song stuck inside my head. Even still, whenever I hear it, I want to sing and dance along – and I just can't be unhappy when I'm singing and dancing!

3

“from Me to You,” the Beatles

I love lots of Beatles' songs, but this is one of my top favorites from their early days. Hearing their little Liverpool accents bleed through this upbeat ballad makes my toes tap along with the beat. It's impossible for me to listen to this song and be in a bad mood.

4

“Come on, Eileen,” Dexy's Midnight Runners

Haaa, you've seen this song listed from me before. I can't help it, I love “Come On, Eileen.” I love the beat, I love the melodies, and every time I hear “Toora loora, toora loo rye aye,” I just have to sing along. I mean, the happiness factor of this song makes me understand the band's name that much more, if you get what I'm saying.

5

“the Remedy,” Jason Mraz

I don't know what it is about this song but I love it. It was the first song by Jason Mraz I ever heard, and although I couldn't understand a word of it at the time, I still thought it was awesome. It's still my favorite song of his, and every time I hear him sing about dangerous liaisons, there's a smile on my face!

“All the Single Ladies,” Beyonce

I blame this on Kurt and Glee. Honestly, I still prefer this song when I'm seeing the Glee video of Kurt dancing to it. I love the dance, I love imitating the dance (badly), I love the message. Oh man, I love the whole thing. I generally don't listen to Beyonce, but this one … I just can't help myself!

7

“Ants Marching,” Dave Matthews Band

Let me say this right off the bat: I love every DMB song ever, and all of them make me happy, even the ones that make me cry. But this was one of the first mainstream DMB songs I heard, I love the upbeat rhythm, and it will always hold a special place in my heart. Plus, I've seen him do his little two-step shuffle dance to it live onstage, where it's even better, so I always grin whenever I hear this.

I know some of these are corny, and many of them aren't my typically preferred genres – but there's no accounting for taste or smiles sometimes. Do you like any of these? If not, what are the songs that make you happy?
