11 Best Movie Boyfriends ...

Every now and then I’ll watch a movie and fall head over heels with a character. Don’t act like you don’t do it too! A character will come along and he’s suave and sensitive. He’s adorable and kind of shy. He’ll have the perfect mix of arrogance and insecurity and it makes me wish I was that girl on screen. Here are my 11 favorite movie boyfriends.

1. Lloyd Dobler – John Cusak in "Say Anything"

(Your reaction) Thank you!

I’m not exaggerating when I say that I’ve been in love with Lloyd Dobler all of my life. Watch "Say Anything" just once and you’ll understand what I’m talking about. John Cusak (who is still a hottie) plays 19 year old Lloyd – the kind of guy that isn’t afraid to be romantic, whose best friends are girls, likes to play with his nephew and is honest, sweet and sincere. The way he watches out for his friend after she has her heartbroken, the conviction he speaks with when he talks about his feelings for Diane Court – it makes me swoon every single time.

2. Nino Quincampoix – Mathieu Kassovitz in "Amelie"

(Your reaction) Thank you!

Nino is the eccentric type. The kind of sweet and quiet guy that has a mystery about him. It’s this very nature that convinces Amelie that he’s her soul mate. He indulges in her games of cat and mouse, finding out more about her little by little until he’s in love with her too. Plus with a beautiful French setting and a perfect film score it’s nearly impossible not to love this guy

3. Noah Calhoun – Ryan Gosling in "the Notebook"

(Your reaction) Thank you!

I don’t think you’re going to find a single woman that saw "The Notebook" and didn’t want to be Allie (especially after that lovely boat ride) He is hot, tough, honest and a romantic. And that devotion! There was never a moment you doubted his love for her.

4. Ferris Bueller – Matthew Broderick in "Ferris Bueller’s Day off"

(Your reaction) Thank you!

The secretary had it right, Ferris Bueller is definitely one righteous dude. Super cute Matthew Broderick made Ferris charming, sweet and absolutely funny. His insistence that his best friend Cameron and girlfriend Sloane be there to enjoy it too just made me like him even more. Tell me that you wouldn’t risk expulsion just to spend one day with him.

5. Fitzwilliam Darcy – Colin Firth (or Anyone else!) in "Pride & Prejudice"

(Your reaction) Thank you!

I didn’t select an actor for this on purpose because no matter who plays him, I’m still a sucker for Mr. Darcy. Sure he isn’t as charming as that Mr. Wickham and its yes, his concern is definitely misplaced. But can you fault a guy for looking out for his best friend? I think not! Despite the arrogant exterior he’s a genuine and upright man and I’d love to switch places with Elizabeth any day!

6. Wesley – Cary Elwes in "the Princess Bride"

(Your reaction) Thank you!

He immediately gets points for always making “as you wish” his response to Buttercup. It’s coming back to rescue Buttercup from evil Prince Humperdinck puts him into best movie boyfriend territory. He goes through torture and faces an almost impossible rescue mission head on. You’ve got to love a guy willing to do that

7. Landon Carter – Shane West in "a Walk to Remember"

(Your reaction) Thank you!

The best boyfriends don’t always start out that way, as Landon Cater proves. When the movie starts out he is far from the loving and committed person he ends up being. He makes mistakes but is willing to do what it takes to fix them, changing his life as well as others in the mean time.

8. Jake Ryan – Michael Schoeffling in "Sixteen Candles"

(Your reaction) Thank you!

I’d have a horrible birthday every year if it meant that I’d get a sweet birthday kiss from Jake Ryan at the end of it. I don’t know what I like more, the fact that he was able to see passed superficial Carolyn or that he didn’t let all of the weird stuff that kept happening deter him from finally getting to Samantha.

9. Henry Roth – Adam Sandler in "50 First Dates"

(Your reaction) Thank you!

Not to be confused with the Henry Roth from the indie film "Dedication" (he was an awful boyfriend), this Henry is played by Adam Sandler. I know, Adam Sandler isn’t the first person to come to mind when you hear “favorite movie boyfriend” but if you’ve seen "50 First Dates" you know that there was no way that I could deny him the title. Henry finds a new way to make Lucy fall in love with him every day. Now if only I could find a guy to do that.

10. Edward Cullen – Robert Pattinson in the "Twilight" Series

(Your reaction) Thank you!

I might get some flack for this one, but I couldn’t leave him out. Edward Cullen was destined to be adored even before he made it onto the silver screen. His old school mannerisms, that borderline bad boy thing he’s got going on and his devotion to Bella, even at his own risk, leaves girls swooning. And let’s be honest here - Edward Cullen is quite nice to look at, even if he is pale and sparkles.

11. Patrick Verona – Heath Ledger in "10 Things I Hate about You"

(Your reaction) Thank you!

We’re going to forget the part where he only starts dating Kat because of a bet. We’ll look at that as geek intervention, because without that little push those two never would have gotten together. Now with that aside, I’m allowed to be excited by his steely confidence, bad boy reputation and that adorable accent. I can’t tell you how many times I watch "10 Things I Hate About You" just wishing I’d be sucked into the screen and have a chance to play hard to get with Patrick.

Okay, I’ve fallen in love 11 times, but can you really blame me? They just make me all mushy inside. Which movie boyfriends do you wish you could steal?
