When it comes to losing weight, we all know the true secret is by eating right and exercising often. But there are a few ways to use beauty products to make yourself appear toned and trim! The secret all lies in this one little hint: It's all about playing up your assets and tricking other's eyes into seeing more definition and contouring where YOU want them to see it! So here's the skinny on how to look thin and sexy without eating a singe carrot or taking 5 laps around your house!
1. Glow for It
Adding a little color can slim you down instantly! It's how most celebrities fake a toned body. For streak-free bronzing, it's best to start in the shower and exfoliate rough or dry patches of skin. Next, apply self tanner over your whole body in slow, circular motions making sure you don't miss a spot. Keep your fingers pressed closely together because the spaces between them can cause blotches. Experiment with many different types of tanning lotions and potions to find the one that works perfectly for you. If you have dry skin, check out moisturizing self tanners, which won't strip your skin of it's natural oils.
2. Hair Help
The next time you find yourself seated in the chair at the salon, ask your stylist for face-framing lowlights. Darker hues make your face appear more narrow. And if you don't have the extra money to spend on salon services, you can do it yourself with an at-home kit, available at drugstores. Read the instructions to find out how to do it, but keep in mind that lowlights can turn an unflattering shade of orange after sun exposure. Use a sun protective hair product or wear a hat before heading out if you want to look your prettiest!
3. Get Rid of Cellulite
Look more svelte by temporarily reducing the appearance of cellulite with a skin-smoothing cream! Cellulite is swollen fat cells bulged up against the tops layers of skin...and most of us are all too familiar with the unsightly globby mess! Anti-cellulite creams contain caffeine to temporarily constrict fat cells, as well as antioxidants and peptides to tighten the layer of skin over time. Of course you'll have to reapply these creams for a pro-longed effect since they only provide temporary reductions. You can find cellulite treatments at most drugstores or pharmacies. Don't forget, the best way to keep those thighs in shape is to work out often!
4. No More Bobs
If you want a haircut to make you look thinner, steer clear of bobs and pixie cuts! Long, layered styles will lend a slender look to your lovely face! Ask your stylist for chunky layers that skim the face to chisel your cheekbones. When styling your new 'do at home, run a dime-size drop of silicone serum through your hair before blow-drying. This will help you achieve the "piecy" look. And since blunt-cut bangs can make your face appear rounder, ask for a side-swept fringe that falls about nose level. Any longer and you may draw unwanted attention to any extra weight you're carrying on your jawline!
5. Visit a Spray Tan Technician
Now this may sound a bit strange, but a professional airbrush treatment can give the illusion of sculpted muscles, a butt lift, and even thinner thighs! Why do you think models have spray tan treatments so often! Because they know this little secret! And now you do too. Here's how it works. An aesthetician will spray on a base tan, then go back with a darker shade to spray on whatever you wish to have defined. Results typically last about a week, but moisturizing daily helps enhance the color and keep it fresher longer.
6. Define Your Jawline
It's very easy to disguise extra jiggle and wiggle at the chin and neck. A little bit of bronzer is all you need to fix it! Using a shimmer-free bronzer that's two shades deeper than your skin tone, apply it underneath your entire chin. Extend the color down your neck and finish by dusting your jawbone with a highlighter to create the illusion of depth and definition. It's important to make sure you use a matte bronzer, because bronzing powders with shimmer in them are only going to draw more attention and highlight your "wiggly" areas!
7. Chisel Those Cheeks
Have you noticed that when you lose weight-even if it's just a pound or two-that your cheekbones seem to "pop"? Well, you can re-create that illusion anytime, whether you're losing or gaining weight! Al you need is a highlighting powder, a blush and a matte (remember, shimmer is a no-no) bronzer. First, with a soft blush brush, sweep the bronzer directly underneath you cheekbones. Not too much, or you'll look bruised! Next, dust the highlighting powder directly on your cheekbones and continue it up to your temples. Finally, apply a soft rosy blush to the apple of your cheeks, then blend it all together! You can lightly dust powder over it all to help it stay in place longer, but use a light touch to avoid looking chalky!
8. Play up Your Best Features
This is the age old trick that women everywhere have use for centuries, but it always works! When something works so well, why change it? Highlight your best features and draw attention to them, and then attention will be naturally distracted from what you don't like! If you have beautiful big lips, wear bright red lip-stain and then your short eyelashes won't be as noticeable. If you have beautiful hair, play it up and then no one will pay attention to your small breasts. Work with what you have, and don't spend time feeling sorry for yourself! Tell yourself that you are beautiful, and you will start to believe it!
9. Whiten Your Teeth
Dirty, discolored or yellowed teeth can often make your mouth and face look heavier. Whitening you teeth can have a powerful slenderizing effect! There are many, many different options out there for whitening, but my personal favorites are whitening strips. Available at most drugstores, they are a little strip you put on your teeth for 30 minutes. It takes two weeks, but your smile is up to 5 shades brighter! Other options include whitening toothpastes and mouth rinses, whitening trays, laser and dentist work. Do whatever works for you, and be amazed by the results!
10. Pump up the Volume
On your hair that is! Extra oomph at the crown slenderizes your face. No matter how long or short your hair is, you can do it! Start by cleansing your hair with a clarifying shampoo since product buildup can weight it down. Next, massage a golf-ball puff of mousse into those tresses before wrapping nearly dry hair around large velcro rollers. Finish blow-drying your hair and remove the rollers and style as normal! You'll have massive volume without frizz! Use hairspray to lock your style in place.
Once again, I would like to state that the best way to look thin is to BE thin, and that can only be achieved through healthy eating and work-out routines. But for those days that you just "feel" fat, and those moments when you need to feel sexy, these tip will make you feel as pretty and thin as you will look!
