PS, I Love You ... [polldaddy rating="4608920"]
Starring: Hilary Swank and Gerard Butler
Released: 2008
My husband hated the premise of this movie - he hates stories that mix love and death, but I just adored it. Swank is a widow who's husband (Butler) left letters for her to read after his death. Slowly, through his challenges to her, she begins to move on. I cried all the way through it!

Starring: Katherine Heigel
Released: 2008
In my opinion, this movie is just light and fun. I didn't find it especially moving or emotional, but it is a really cute romantic flick. Heigel stars as Jane, who's been a bridesmaid in twenty-seven weddings. When a reporter is assigned to write a story about her, she winds up falling for him!

I just saw this movie in the theater a few weeks ago, and I loved it! I would highly recommend watching it if you love romantic comedies. This movie follows the love lives of a bunch of twenty- and thirty-somethings, and the situations are so true-to-life.

Starring: Ryan Reynolds and Abigail Breslin

This is a precious little story of a father and daughter, but it is a great romance, too. This movie reminded me a bit of The Princess Bride because it involves bedtime stories. In this one, Breslin asks her single dad (Reynolds) about his love life, leading him to tell her about his three loves. He leaves her to guess which of the loves was her mother. I thought this was so endearing and funny, too!

This story is cute, clean, romantic-comedy fun. I really liked My Best Friend's Wedding, and the storyline of this movie reminded me a lot of that one. Tom (Dempsey) and Hannah (Monaghan) are the best of friends for years. While Hannah is in Scotland, Tom realizes he loves her, but Hannah comes back engaged and asks Tom to be her honor attendant. Many romantic and funny moments occur as he tries to break the wedding up!

Twilight ... **

[polldaddy rating="4608919"]
Starring: Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart
Released: 2008
Okay, I know a lot of people consider Twilight a book series and movie for teenagers, but my friends and I all just loved it. This movie is about Bella (Stewart), a loner who falls for a mysterious Edward (Pattinson). I think I'm safe giving away the fact that Edward is a vampire, and their story line is a classic tale of star-crossed lovers who can't see a way to be together. Even though I'm over eighteen, Edward can still make me swoon!

This one is still in the theaters right now, too. I am not a huge fan of Zellweger, but I just love Harry Connick, Jr., so I was willing to watch Renee in this one. New in Town is a funny, light-hearted romantic comedy where Zellweger has a lot of mishaps and must be rescued. If you liked Bridget Jones's Diary, you'll love this one.

Starring: Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, and Pierce Brosnan

I always wanted to see Mama Mia the musical on Broadway, but I never got the chance. So, I was totally excited when this movie came out. It is a funny musical about a single mom (Streep) and her daughter (Seyfried) who's trying to find out who her father is before her wedding day. If you don't like musicals, you might not like this - it got some mixed reviews. However, I loved it! Love the story, love the sometimes questionable singing skills of the actors, love it all.

This movie is probably one of the best I've seen since the Lord of The Rings and the Notebook. Such an amazing story! And the actors seem to be born for those roles! Passion, envy, love, betrayal, friendship, money - you name it, everything is in this amazing movie! 3 hours fly by like one second. If you really want to see a movie that'll move your soul, this one is to go for!

The Duchess ... **

Starring: Keira Knightley and Ralph Fiennes
Released: 2008
I love this period movie! It is two hours of pure distraction and fun. Knightley is charming as an aristocrat married to Fiennes' character, a boring fuddy-duddy. I loved all the costumes and fantasy of movies like this. Makes me wish I had a corset!

I thought this movie was so cute! Adams is a real fairy tale princess who's evil stepmother banishes her to the real world. Her antics as she learns about life in New York City are so hilarious, and the romance story line is just precious, too. It's like a fairy tale for all us grown-up girls.

Can I just say that I think Eric Bana is incredibly hot, and I would watch any movie he was in? So, beyond that, I still really liked this movie. Portman and Johansson play the Boleyn sisters Anne and Mary, wife and consort of King Henry VIII. If you know anything about English history, you know Anne gets beheaded in the end. This movie takes many liberties with the true storyline, but it still made a great movie to me.

Starring: Richard Gere and Diane Lane

Of course, these two actors are such shoe-ins for romances... when I hear these names together, romance is the first thing I think of! Even though this title is totally weird to me, I enjoyed this mature romantic film. Gere plays a divorced surgeon who vacations at the same resort as the unhappily married and separated Lane. They experience an attraction to each other and weather a storm together, and then Lane must make a decision about who she wants to be with.

I heard about this movie when it was nominated for four Oscars, so I wanted to rent it and see what all the hype was about. This is a thought-provoking romance and thriller! The story begins when Winslet's character, thirty-year old Hanna, has an affair with Ganz's character, Michael, who's only 15 at the time. They separate, but reunite years later for a court case. I won't ruin the suspenseful surprise, but I will say that this movie will spark a lot of dinner conversation if you watch it on a date!

A lot of people haven't heard of this little independent film, but I saw it about a year ago and was just charmed by it. It is the story of Jenna (Russell), a waitress married to a no-good husband. Her dreams of escape from her situation are derailed by an unexpected pregnancy, but Jenna finds lots of joy and love in her life. A sweet and satisfying romantic tale!

I just love Helen Hunt, so I wanted to see her newest film. In this movie, she plays April, a school teacher going through a divorce and the death of her mother. She begins an affair with the father of one of her students (Firth), and winds up pregnant by her separated husband (Broderick). This is a funny, witty romance with a lot of heart. I really enjoyed this one.

This is an interesting movie that I kept thinking about for several days after we'd watched it. It is the story of a college professor (Kingsley) who falls madly in lust for a graduate student (Cruz). His lust turns into jealously, and he fears that Cruz's character is cheating on him. This isn't a traditional knight in shining armor romance, but it definitely got me thinking about the nature of relationships ... and I think Kingsley and Cruz are both immensely talented actors.

I really enjoyed this movie because it is a romance, but it is also a deep thinker. Phoenix plays a man recovering from a breakup who moves back in with his parents. He meets two girls- one a nice, marrying type whom his parents prefer, and one a partier (Paltrow) that he's attracted to... I thought Joaquin did a great job in this one!

I saw this movie last year at Christmastime, and I think it is such a heartwarming holiday romance. Union stars as a divorced mother who takes her children to see Santa (Chestnut). Her daughter tells Santa that her mom wants a compliment from a man for Christmas, and Santa winds up falling for Nancy (Union's character). There is an interesting plot twist when Nancy's ex comes back into their lives. I suggest you rent this one soon!
