Former supermodel no more! Forty three year old Linda Evangelista is AGAIN a supermodel and a hefty priced one at that. The model who’s notoriously known as having said that she “didn’t get out of bed for less than $10,000” is the new face of luxury brand Prada. Linda’s Prada ad will have its debut in the September edition of British Vogue.
I must say, this seemingly rampant “return of the supermodels” thing is a pleasant development. For one, it’s a sign that fashion DOES NOT end at the age of 25 (when supermodels are usually considered “old”). Secondly, it’s a good sign for newbie models or fashion aspirants - letting them know that our perception of beauty and style has evolved and that a name, strength of character and lots of good PR could still land them jobs even in their 40’s.
Other returning supermodels include Christy Turlington (who’s the newest face of the Escada campaign), Naomi Campbell (no matter how much we hate her, she’s still at the front line of the Yves Saint Laurent campaign) and Claudia Schiffer (who’s doing stuff over at the Salvatore Ferragamo camp).
Good times are rolling!

The Supermodels of the 90-s are definitely making a come back! Just think of Yves Saint Laurent ad campaign for this Fall/Winter by Naomi Campbell, by Claudia Shciffer for Chanel (again), Elle McPherson for Lancome…
The only one we’ve been missing on is Cindy Crawford, but I am pretty sure she will get back in the game soon!
To be honest, I like these older Supermodels (Claudia, Naomi, Vodianova, Evangelista, Elle, Cindy) much more than the younger generation (Bundchen, Werbovy, Moss).
Their beauty is so powerful, it sometimes seems surreal! Remember the Spring-Summer 08 ad campaign for Louis Vuitton? It still makes me week in the knees!
