In the past week I have lost two comforts of my life: my job and my boyfriend. In both situations I was told that it was nothing I did wrong. The principal at my school explained to me that they were reorganizing the staff and that there wouldn’t be a position open for me. My boyfriend told me that I didn’t do anything wrong, he just didn’t feel the things a boyfriend should. But as each began to explain how I was no longer needed in their lives I couldn’t help but wonder: If I had done better could I have saved my job/boyfriend?

I’m trying to find my purpose in life; I’m trying to find my way. I always enjoyed writing, especially poetry. In high school I found out that I was good at writing stories and interviewing people for Journalism class. I continued my studies in college and graduated with a BA in English and minored in Journalism. After graduating I sent out applications with my resume attached only to get turned down by four out of five possible internships. The fifth internship had good news that came too late. I already had a job as a data entry clerk that was going to help me pay back my school loans and start a 401k fund. I desperately wanted to take the internship, however the hours conflicted with the job that I desperately needed to keep at the time. Now three years later I am still a data entry clerk who is still looking for freelance journalism work. I don’t regret taking my current position because if I hadn’t I would have never met my fiancé. I just want to find my niche in the world and I want to know if I’m truly meant to be a writer. I still enjoy writing and I have a blog that I keep updated about the world around me. I also continue to search for possible freelance work that I can do from home. However, it never seems enough for me and it does not seem to be what I’m searching for. I know the dream job won’t come in a magic bottle and that I have to continue to search for it and put my resume out there. But how do I get five years experience if every job I find is asking for experienced writers?
If you are considering working from home, make sure you know the ground rules!

So after hanging around some good ol’ southern folks the past year or so, I have discovered that I have picked up one major habit. I called everyone darling or hun. It has invaded my everyday speech – I often answer my cell phone “hey darlin” (please note I have caller ID so this is not quite as random as it may appear). lol

For those not in the know, I’ve been knocked up. But it’s okay since it’s by my husband.
This situation opens a whole new level of experience for me in Australia. Being on your own in a foreign country brings out so many issues you never thought off before.
My husband’s family doesn’t live in Sydney, and mine is obviously all the way in Cagayan de Oro. That makes us basically alone in this city down under.

I am a 32 year old new mother who is about to make a decision most women in the US are faced with. Do I go back to work or stay at home with my son or find something in between? It’s a cross road in the middle of a woman’s life that potentially shapes her future (her self, her family, her career, her lifestyle). For me, facing the decision is both liberating and paralyzing at the same time. I feel liberated by the fact that my husband and I are financially secure enough to be in a position where I am able to make this decision. I am sensitive to the fact that in today’s economy this is not a choice at all for some women. I also feel liberated because a decision to stay home with my son and be a full time mom will allow me to do almost anything I set my mind to.

I know that you are now a career woman. But other women hadn’t been as lucky before!
Decades ago, the role of a woman was to be her husband’s partner in taking care of the children and of keeping the house tidy and in order. Her job is to cook breakfast early, wake the kids and help them prepare for school, help her husband get ready for work, juggle the grocery shopping while keeping the baby clean, plus doing the extra chores at home such as cleaning and washing the dishes and clothes, doing some ironing, and generally, to be at home. In the late afternoon, she waits for her husband when he comes home from work. Her husband works for money to keep their budget well provided for. Yes, the career of a woman was to be the home manager.

Wow, okay are there any companies left out here in the real world, that use actual paper applications? You walk in to a potential employer, a kid that is young enough to” be your kid”, points you to a kiosk, with a desktop pc in it, or they *smile* and say “we only take applications online, sorry”. Shaking my head in disbelief, I end up recreating that same scene over and over again, until I finally get it, okay, nobody uses paper anymore.

I was reading a recent post on twitter which said a SAHM wanting to be a WAHM. I thought those were the strangest acronyms and quickly googled them to see what they meant. I guess SAHM means “Stay at Home Mom” and WAHM is a “Work at Home Mom”. Having just gone through the program created on www.powerstrategies.tv I have now have officially become a WAHM. Amazing that finding one program, a program that actually supports being a WAHM and will discount their program because they see value in who I am, can change my life. I know you have heard this a million times, but Kim Power Stilson is the real thing and she really wants Women, Small Businesses, and Stay at Home Parents to become successful and accomplish their dreams. So about the business I have…

Have you ever noticed that men seem more attracted to stupid girls? You see them approaching the ditsy women with some oh-so-stupid pick-up line like, “If I told you, you had a beautiful body, would you hold it against me”?
