Myth # 1: If I shave my head, hair will grow back thick and healthy

You for sure can try it, but don’t you think this measure is too drastic, especially now, when shaved heads are not in fashion anymore even among the most radical feminists? The truth is that your hair will grow back exactly how it was before… So, really, there is no reason to suffer!

Myth # 2: If you have your hair trimmed frequently, it will grow better.

Frequent trimming will be helpful against split ends (which, by the way, will not be cured by applying even the best-promoted hair products!), but it won’t influence the hair growth. Cut it or not, your hair will grow at the same speed, anyway – a bit faster in the summer, and a bit slower in the winter, when all processes within the body tend to slow down.

Myth # 3: The more expensive hair products I use, the better my hair will look.

Unfortunately, it is not true. We all are familiar with, and often are victims of, elaborate marketing techniques of those who are manufacturing and pushing onto the market an endless array of different hair-care products – shampoos, creams, conditioners, masks, lotions… you name it! Most of these products are useless or even dangerous for the health of our hair – just have a look at the list of ingredients, every one of which feature some unpronounceable chemicals, artificially produced in laboratories. Can some “Sodium Lauryl Sulfate” or “Propylene Glycol“, be really beneficial for your hair? I doubt so! A good rule of thumb to keep your hair healthy and thick is to choose only natural and preferably home-made hair care products.

Myth # 4: Hair shouldn’t be washed every day.

Actually, if your hair is oily, there is nothing bad about washing it every day, but only if you use a very mild natural shampoo, or, better so, a home-made hair soap. On the other hand, if your hair is dry, try to wash it as infrequently as you can, and apply a nourishing hair mask an hour before shampooing it.

Myth # 5: Plucking out grey hairs will make them sprout even more.

The truth is that, when your hair starts to turn grey, there is nothing much you can do about it, except for either colouring it or proudly wearing it as is, “salt and pepper”. Plucking out grey hairs or not, each year there will be more of them, anyway… In addition, plucking can damage hair follicles and even lead to an infection. So, either stick to a good-quality coloring agent and have your hair roots coloured every month or so, or just choose a funky haircut, which will make even grey hair look cool and sexy!

In a marriage men and women have different needs and roles. It is up the couple to mark those roles and discuss what they need from the other. Until you make it clear what it is you need and what your partner needs (read 10 Signs that Show He’s Ready to Commit!), you are swimming against the current.

Typically a woman’s needs are more emotional and less concrete, where as man’s needs are physical. She wants reassurance and mental stimulation and he wants some one to be active in his hobbies and share his interest. A couple becomes unhappy and unstable when needs are being met. (read How to Make Your Marriage Affair-Proof) These needs will then be met by someone else. Do you really want someone else meeting the top need of your man? I’m not just talking about sex either. His needs could be a number of things.

Of course none of this information is not handed out at the alter. It’s something you come to learn over time. The work comes from making sure you are the one meeting your spouse’s needs and in return your needs will be met too (read Living Together and Loving It …).

I wouldn’t want to not be able to pick up my kids or grandkids in the future, so I’m starting on a not-so-stressful workout. But I learned that it takes more than a dozen jumping jacks to have a (slightly) serious workout session – and I do need to prepare my body for all that physical strain, with the help of stretching.

According to Women’s Health Mag, there are actually three kinds of stretching: dynamic, static and myofascial.

Dynamic

Moving your arms and legs through a range of motion without stopping to hold any single position.

Static

Stretching a muscle as far as you can without pain and then holding it there.

Myofascial

Applying pressure to different muscles by sliding parts of your body over a foam roller.

So when should these stretching exercises be done? The dynamic can be performed before you workout, the static stretching exercises after – and the myofascial exercises anytime.

One final thing: stretching actually helps reduce muscle tension, enhances muscle coordination, increases your energy level and the circulation of the blood to different parts of the body.

I guess I should go out and stretch these lazy limbs after all!

A few sure fire way to have a good relationship:

1. Eye contact.

When you are talking to your mate tell him to look you in the eyes. Good eye contact shows that not only do you have their undivided attention but also that you are going to get a real response.

2. Be honest.

I cannot stress this enough. Even if you did something wrong, tell the truth. Women or man, they can handle the truth, lies hurt a lot more then you think.

3. Creativity.

Dinner and a movie is a classic; however, it might leave you wanting more. Try something new, something that will excite you both.

4. Romance.

Romance is how you keep the fire burning between you and your partner. A romantic dinner for two, a weekend away from it all (this doesn’t mean that you have to leave your city, maybe just disconnect from the outside world.), or even make a night of it (dinner, dancing, a walk in the park, and home to be alone with each other.

5. Most importantly be yourself.

Don’t try to be something that you’re not for one it’s hard to keep up the lie and two the person already like you. Yourself is wonderful, yourself got this person to agree to go out with you. Don’t lie about who you are (see number 2)

WITH an ex-husband like Bobby Brown, Whitney Houston doesn’t need enemies.

In his upcoming autobiography, Brown blows the lid on his wildly dysfunctional marriage to the troubled, Grammy-winning diva, suggesting that she drove him into a nightmare of drug addiction.

“I never used cocaine until after I met Whitney. Before then, I had experimented with other drugs, but marijuana was my drug of choice,” Brown writes in “Bobby Brown: The Truth, the Whole Truth and Nothing But,” out next month. “At one point in my life, I used drugs uncontrollably. I was using everything I could get my hands on, from cocaine to heroin, weed and cooked cocaine.”

As far as his 15-year marriage to Houston is concerned, it “was doomed from the very beginning. Within the first year we separated, with several more to follow,” Brown writes. “I think we got married for all the wrong reasons. Now, I realize Whitney had a different agenda than I did when we got married . . . I believe her agenda was to clean up her image, while mine was to be loved and have children.”

Whitney, he alleges, had been under “a lot of pressure. The media was accusing her of having a bisexual relationship with her assistant, Robin Crawford. Since she was the American Sweetheart and all, that didn’t go too well with her image . . . In Whitney’s situation, the only solution was to get married and have kids. That would kill all speculation, whether it was true or not. In the short, I think I got caught up in the politics and ended up marrying one of the biggest stars in the world.”

But Brown notes that he was no saint in their relationship, confessing in his book, “I am guilty of sleeping with other women . . . Women are always throwing themselves at you. I’m only human, so I would make the mistake and bite the hook sometimes . . . I let the testosterone take over.”

One of his most public indiscretions was an affair with former exotic dancer Karrine “Superhead” Steffans. “Yes, I’ve slept with her,” he confesses. “Yes, I’ve spent several nights at her house. But she was only good for what her nickname stood for.”

Reps for Houston, who divorced Brown a year ago, did not return our call for comment.

When it comes to noses in Hollywood, more and more people are wondering “did she or didn’t she?”

We’ve heard the line time and time again, celebrities caught in a before-and-after photo clearly showing two very different noses. “I had a deviated septum,” Ashley Tisdale, star of “High School Musical,” recently confessed.

With that, Tisdale joined an elite group of Hollywood A-listers who have admitted to having a nose job to fix a deviated septum, but are their claims justified or is a deviated septum just a convenient excuse for a new nose?

Deviated What?

As much as Americans are obsessed with their celebrities, so are they equally intent on pointing out even their most minor imperfections. Celebrities live in front of the camera, so when they decide to go under the knife, even the most subtle changes are instantly recognizable.

Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Aniston and Ashley Simpson have all made headlines in the last year for stepping out with slightly altered noses. And like Tisdale, all three women say their new noses were a medical necessity, not a vanity.

Raj Kanodia, the Beverly Hills plastic surgeon who performed all of their surgeries, says a deviated septum is one of the most common problems he sees in his office.

“I would say in my practice as high as 95 percent of the people I see have a deviated septum, so chances are when someone says they have a deviated septum, they do,” said Kanodia. “Most septums and noses are broken when you’re a toddler because the upper bone is not developed yet so when a child is learning to walk or crawl and they fall on their face, they traumatize their nose.”

The septum, a thin wall inside of the nose that divides the left and right nasal cavities, is deviated when a trauma causes the septum to block one side of the nose and reduces airflow, causing difficulty breathing. A surgery called septoplasty is the best way to remedy a severely deviated septum.

But Kanodia says the procedure to repair the septum takes place almost entirely internally, differing from the more common nose surgery known as rhinoplasty.

Stretching the Truth

Though a deviated septum can be a serious problem, signs of the problem are often difficult to detect from the outside. By definition a septoplasty should not change the exterior appearance of the nose, so when a celebrity says he or she had surgery to repair a deviated septum, they may be leaving out a few details.

Seth Faison, deputy director of Sitrick and Company, a public relations firm in New York City specializing in strategic communications, says clouding over the truth may not be the best strategy, but for those under a public microscope, it may be necessary.

“I always advise clients to tell the truth,” said Faison. “But when it comes to plastic surgery, the less said the better.”

If publicists are advising their celebrity clients not to fully disclose the truth, it may explain the recent revelations of surgery to repair a deviated septum.

“I didn’t do this because I believe in plastic surgery,” Tisdale told People Magazine. “I did this to help my health. I literally could not breathe out of the right side of my nose.”

“I think celebrities should be a little more forthright in saying I had a deviated septum fixed but I also had it straightened a little bit,” said Kanodia. “If they were more forthright people wouldn’t have this stigma about it.”

Hollywood may be bringing the stigma upon itself because there’s always speculation surrounding secrecy. Just this week actress Scarlett Johansson filed a lawsuit against US Weekly magazine for accusing the actress of having a nose job.

“Scarlett has always been straightforward with the press regarding her body image, and she’s very concerned that her fans will feel misled,” Johansson’s publicist told OK! Magazine.

Whether a celebrity did or didn’t have his or her nose fixed, the decision to go public is ultimately his or hers.

“Rumors and accusations frequently need to be addressed,” said Faison. “But they can be addressed by telling the truth while keeping some things private.”

Yet until plastic surgery is no longer considered taboo, the rumors, and lawsuits, will ultimately prevail over full disclosure.

I’m telling the truth when I say I am not an avid watcher of The Hills. But, I will admit to some “background TV” of the show, and stopping mid-action to tune in. I swear that is the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help me God. With my testimony out of the way, who will be tuning in for the premiere of The Hills, Season 3 on Monday?

One part of this guilty pleasure I do pay attention to is the clothes. With these girls’ wealth, fame and bods it’s no surprise they are into fashion. Oh, and those Teen Vogue internships may have something to do with it too. These gals may not be the most fashion forward or eccentric, but they know their It bags, designer denim and party tops, as pointed out by this week’s Life & Style. Here are my picks for some fun party tops to try on, Hills style.

TMZ has learned that Britney’s self-arranged photo shoot and interview with OK! Magazine was a complete disaster. We’re told that the photos are so bad, execs at the magazine are, at this moment, trying to decide whether to report what actually happened — or sanitize the truth to protect the pop train wreck.

According to multiple sources, Britney’s behavior during the interview was “nothing less than a meltdown.” She was, according to our sources, “completely out of it” during the shoot. The photos are “so bad” we’ve learned, that to publish them could “kill her career.” Apparently, Brit Brit’s eyes rolled back in her head at one point, causing her to look half dead. Her mood, we’re told, was extremely erratic. She took frequent bathroom breaks our source says, and each time she returned her mood would change. She was also completely paranoid during the entire interview, fearing at one point the ceiling was about to cave in on her. Out of control y’all!

We’ve also learned that Brit had some issues with hygiene on the set as well. At one point, Britney ordered up some fried chicken to munch on. We’re told after she chowed down, she wiped her hands on a several thousand dollar Gucci dress that she was wearing for the shoot, staining it with grease. Yuck! One of her dogs also needed some assistance in the housebreaking department. Our on-set spy says that the dog pooped all over the floor, and Brit used (what else?) — a Chanel dress to clean it up! How trashtastic!As for how Brit looked for the photos, another nightmare. We’ve learned that OK! hired two of the best hair and makeup artists in L.A. to transform the once-bald beauty into something more presentable, but she wasn’t havin’ none of that. She refused to let the hired help touch her, opting instead for her “skanky friends” to do her hair and makeup. No wonder she always looks so fantastic!

And if you’re wondering where her mom/publicist/lawyer/friend/ANYONE was to help her out, we’re told that even her cousin Alli (who until recently was working as her personal assistant) couldn’t deal, and is “done” with Miss Spears.

We’ll see when OK! hits the stands this week — if they actually have the balls to print the truth about what happened. We’re guessing they don’t!

A call to Brit’s rep was not immediately returned. A rep for OK! would not discuss the upcoming issue.

If Phil Spector decides to take the witness stand, he should think long and hard about telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

That’s the cryptic message from Los Angeles Judge Larry Paul Fidler, who’s presiding over the “Wall of Sound” producer’s murder trial. Fidler says that while he doesn’t hold grudges against defendants who testify in their own defense, there’s nothing he despises more than under-oath liars.

“If you get up there and you pretty clearly lie, I doubt any judge is going to much like that client,” the jurist told a Loyola Marymount Law School symposium the other day during a break in the trial. Without mentioning Spector, he added: “How is this going to affect sentencing? That may be too far down the line, but does anyone like someone who comes in and lies in front of 12 strangers plus the judge? Probably not.”

Spector, who’s charged with blowing away B-movie actress Lana Clarkson, faces 15 years to life if convicted.

The LMU event, hosted by Fidler, drew an eye-popping array of celebrity lawyers, including Tom Mesereau (who repped Michael Jackson), Mark Geragos (for Scott Peterson) and Harland Braun (for Robert Blake) – and they all gleefully took shots at past enemies, The Post’s David K. Li reports.

Of TV legal pundits, Mesereau said: “There are some very professional legal analysts out there – but there are also some absolute monstrosities like Nancy Dis-Grace.”

Geragos also whacked Grace, calling her a “yapping, bleached blonde former prosecutor on Court TV.” He went on to remark on the undue influence of Fox’s Greta Van Susteren on high-profile cases: “Our favorite expression coming in the morning before the judge was, WWGS – ‘What would Greta say?’ No matter what the ruling was the night before, whatever Greta would say that night, we’d have to revisit that ruling if she didn’t agree.”

Braun joked that he was misquoted when he seemed to have said that anyone who met Blake’s slain wife, Bonnie Lee Bakley, would have wanted her dead: “What I said: ‘If I was married to her, I would have killed her myself’ ” – drawing big yuks from the crowd.

During his third appearance in association with Howard Stern, Internet Evangelist/TV Talk Show host Bill Keller issued a bold challenge to ABC’s "The View’s" Rosie O’Donnell: Defend your anti-Christian hate speech in a debate with Keller hosted on Howard Stern’s Sirius Satellite Radio Channel.

Keller, who has aired a radio version of his popular "LivePrayer with Bill Keller" on Howard 101 at Stern’s invitation, believes that O’Donnell has never answered a direct challenge to her outrageous hate speech about Christians. "This could either be because Christian leaders are afraid of Rosie, or because Rosie is afraid to be confronted by Christian leaders," says Keller. "Well, I am standing here today calling Rosie out to defend and debate her positions, and let the people decide for themselves if she has any merit or if she is lacking substance."

I’ve actually never heard her bash Christians…..it’s mostly political stuff, right?

Is Courtney Love not telling the whole truth about her dramatic weight loss? Love insists her fabulous new figure is due to diet and exercise, but a friend said, “She’s telling people she got the gastric band surgery. She even said she had to sleep with a towel by her because the surgery makes her [vomit] all the time and is worried she won’t be able to make out with anyone because of her breath.” But a rep for Love, who says she’s dragged him to healthy macrobiotic restaurants, insists, “Not true. She says she never got surgery.” Either way, she looks great.
