I love the natural look. It looks so much prettier than caked on make up… and now that Spring is nearly here, it’s the perfect time to perfect your nude look! I know after a long day, my eyes are puffy, sore and tired, but I can’t use just any product, since my skin is so sensitive! I love these tea bags for my eyes because they’re gentle and because they WORK.

A few years ago, I fell in love with an exfoliating facial wash by H2O, and then, tragically for my complexion, they stopped making it. H2O offers a replacement scrub, but I didn’t like it. So I tried product after product, trying to find a new exfoliating scrub that I could love, and two weeks ago, it happened. I found one, tried it, and fell madly in love. It’s The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Blackhead Exfoliating Wash, and I’m going to use it forever! Hooray!

The first scrub I tried was O2CH Face Exfoliator Gentle Scrub. I have acne-prone but delicate skin, and I thought the “gentle” in the name would make it a safe bet. I loved the way it smelled, but it was TOO gentle. It didn’t exfoliate enough!

Next I tried Burt’s Bees Pore Refining Scrub (with willowbark and jojoba beads). It smelled a little strange, sort of medicinal, but it was HORRIBLE. It left my skin feeling like it was coated in a greasy film, and naturally, I had a terrible break-out. I thought that was odd, since it’s labeled as an acne treatment solution. Oh well, never mind, on to the next exfoliant!

I was already at the mall to buy a MAC eye-shadow (I’m hopelessly addicted), so I stopped in at The Body Shop. I told the perky sales assistant what I was looking for and she grinned, nodded her head, and handed be a test vial of the Tea Tree Blackhead Exfoliating Wash. “Try this,” she said, “it’s the one I use, we all use it here, and you’ll love it.”

She was right! It’s perfect. It smells good, exfoliates well, and leaves my skin with a slight tingle, feeling fresh and clean and glowing. I still follow-up with my everyday moisturizer, since Michigan winters are pretty harsh, but I know in the summer I’ll just be able to use this scrub and go! Honestly, I like this scrub even more than my old H2O scrub. I love it! They have an entire line of blemish-busting tea tree oil products, so if you love this scrub as much as I do, you may want to try those, too!

Is it true that brushing your hair 100 times before bed gives you stronger, more beautiful hair? Or that dry skin causes wrinkles? With so many beauty myths out there, it’s hard to know fact from fiction. I can help bust those beauty myths right now!

1. Brush your hair with 100 strokes before bed for shiny, healthy hair.

False! You should only brush your hair as much as you need to in order to get rid of tangles. Over-brushing can over-dry your hair, and give it static.

2. Dry skin will give you wrinkles.

False! Dry skin will only give you… dry skin. Wrinkles are caused by a lot of  things but dry skin is not one of them.

3. Shaving will make your hair grow back thicker, quicker.

False! Shaving your legs or any other body part for that matter will not make your hair grow back any thicker or darker. When you shave, you’re cutting the hair off above the skin, not pulling it out from, or damaging, the follicle. It may seem like stubble is thick and dark, because longer hair tapers off at the end, but it’s exactly the same thickness and color as the hair you shaved away.

Acne can be frustrating to say the least. Despite all of the products on store shelves, there are many individuals out there that have turned to making their own masks like me. I prefer churning out my own home made goodies mostly because I’m not sure what store products contain. It just feels safer and more natural this way. 9. Heavy Cream Easy to Use Facial Mask

The ingredients in this mask consist of heavy cream (1 tablespoon), honey (1 tablespoon) and baking soda (1 gram). This is the fastest mask to prepare and it gets rid of acne just as fast!

8. Best Face Mask for 30’s

Fractionated coconut oil (2 tablespoons), 1 Egg Yolk, Honey (1 tablespoon), Yogurt (1 tablespoon) and Sugar (1 teaspoon). Mix all of these ingredients and process them in a blender. Apply to the skin and let it sit there for twenty five minutes, then rinse it off with warm water followed by a splash of cold water.

7. Best Face Wash for 40’s

This one is great for someone like your mom (assuming you are young and reading this). One way to slow skin ageing is to take care of it. This mask consists of peas (2 tablespoons), Evening Primrose Oil (1 tablespoon), Yogurt (1 tablespoon), Grape Seed Extract (1 tablespoon) and carrot juice (1/2 Cup). Mix all of the ingredients in a blender and smooth it on the face leaving it there for thirty minutes.

6. To Refresh Your Skin …

The ingredients include ¼ apple, ½ peach, ½ tomato, ¼ milk and 1 tablespoon of Almond oil. Peel all of the fruits and mash them up. Add the milk and oil into the mashed fruits and use moderate heat as you stir it. Do this until the mixture turns into a cream. When it cools, apply a thick layer to your skin and leave it there for thirty minutes. This mask will refresh your skin and keep pimples at bay no matter what type of acne you have!

5. Oatmeal Face Mask

Oatmeal is not just an awesome breakfast food, it is also great for the skin because it helps cleanse and exfoliate. It also helps unclog pores. Mix with honey and scrub it on your face to get rid of dirt, blackheads and acne.

One of the biggest statements you can make is what you do with your hair. Sometimes, that statement can be a negative one. Knowing the right ways to determine how to pick the perfect hair color for you are vital when it comes to making people’s heads turn. So here are my ten tips on choosing the perfect hair color for you!

1. Don’t darken brown hair if you have a pale complexion

The extreme contrast in dark and light will make your complexion look unnatural and ashen. The “darken your hair in the winter, lighten in the summer” rule doesn’t work for everyone. Prom is so exciting! I remember planning my prom dress, my hair, my jewelry … the hardest thing to plan, though, is make up! Do you choose smoky eyes or bright lips? It’s a mine field! I’ve gathered my favourite prom make up tips to ensure you look like a star in your photos!

1. Pick your eyes or your mouth

Then apply minimal eye makeup, and focus on your lips. Avoid brown lipstick, and try different pinks and reds. Take a picture again! The next step is to make sure your skin looks flawless! Very few girls under 25 need to use all-over foundation, but it’s useful to have some that matches your skin tone for emergencies! I always start January full of good intentions, but by the end of February they are forgotten. Last year, I was going to lose weight, get a better job, go running every morning etc etc. My best friend aimed to become a millionaire! If you have moderate to severe acne, get medical treatment as early as possible. Early, effective treatment by a professional can stave off the break-outs and the scarring that follows.

3. Seek surgery

If you have deep, depressed acne scars, your dermatologist may recommend surgery with a local anesthesia. Surgeries can include punch excision, punch elevation, punch graft, or a subcutaneous incision. Sounds scary, but it’s not — I’ve had the last one myself, with excellent results!

Unless you’re extraordinarily lucky and blessed, at one time or another, you’ll have an acne break-out. You may want to stay home and hide under the covers until your skin clears up, but that’s just not possible — you have school, work, friends, a life to live! Hey, I’ve been there! 1. Have a sense of humor

What’s the best way to stay confident in spite of a break-out? Laugh it out! Crack a joke about your break-out before anyone else can. Come on! It is pretty funny, isn’t it?

2. Ignore them

It’s totally okay to ignore those snarky, wicked stinkers who think it’s okay to comment on your complexion. I’ll be they’re just jealous of the pre-pimples you… and they’re taking the one chance they’ll have to tease you… so just ignore them.

3. Save the drama!

Don’t mope too much or get too whiny. It’s just a few pimples! It’s not the end of the world! If you want to get dramatic about something, I’m sure you can find something much better than acne.
