Well, DOES Size Matter?

Are we prejudiced against petite women with the big bag trend? Hmm. Well to those of you who still think the size of the bag is limited by the size of the girl, get with it, I say!

Sarah Michelle Gellar (5′3″) with

Lanvin Kentucky Tote $1545 @ Barneys.com

It is discrimination to not “allow” some of the world’s most fabulous bags be carried by 5′0 and unders. I will absolutely agree with you if somehow you prove short girls need fewer belongings with them. Well? No, it’s not true. We need just as much junk, and we deserve to carry what.ever. we. want. to keep it in. Whether it be the Stam (honestly I don’t know how I could fill the thing up!) or a Silverado Tote, don’t try to keep the short girls down!

I personally think that we short girls are more blessed when it comes to looking fabbu with our purses. Why would I say such a crazy thing? Well, the bigger the bag, the more it overpowers our look. Yes, I may be a true bag crazed lady to want that in the first place, but I love it! That Stam or Snake skin bag will attract more attention being so large, and people will stop to notice and they will think it must be IT (if they don’t already know).

Besides, big bags can hide chubby parts no matter what the height, and don’t try to keep that benefit from us, either!

But that’s all just me, maybe. What do you think?

Cindy Crawford Carries Christian Louboutin’s Metallic Hobo

Celebrities love Louboutin, so it was only a matter of time before I spotted his new hot handbag on a star, this is model Cindy Crawford, with a general Spring-is-coming vacation look.

The handbag above is Louboutin’s Metallic Hobo, which sells on Neiman Marcus for $950. There’s also the “Gathered Hobo” with metallic brown leather going for somewhat more at $1020. Buying one would be a not-too-too expensive way of grabbing some star style. And a piece of history, as this gathered design is Louboutin’s first handbag!

Good choice, Cindy.

Paris Hilton Poses with Her Chanel Flower Flap as Clutch

You’ve got to love that Paris Hilton loves the paparazzi’s attention. “Why on Earth must we love that, Elle?” – you ask? Why, because this gives her designer freebies, like Chanel bags. Alright, alright, it’s plenty of reason for us bag desirers to hate Paris.

BUT here is Ms. Hilton perfectly posing to show us a great, clear shot of an amazingly gorgeous Chanel bag. And you know what – I believe that’s reason to love the egotist in the socialite.

So thanks Paris! Ahh to be born into wealth and fame … sigh.

As you can see from the mini photo inside the large, the bag’s not really a clutch, but a flap with the strap removed. That is a great idea! Imagine, a jumbo sized Chanel flap could be … a day clutch! Faaabulous! *Dreams off into Elle’s happy place*

Fergie to Design Handbags

Fergie is going to design handbags, but for another company, Kipling, and only for two seasons.

President and CEO of VF Sportswear, Denise Seegal, was attracted to Fergie by her mass appeal and fashionista style on the red carpet. This will be the first celebrity-designed collection of many for Kipling, which actually seems like a nice little bag brand, though relatively unknown.

Stacy Ferguson (Fergie) said,

As with every project that I’m involved with, I plan to put all of my heart and creativity into this one, and I’m thrilled to work with such an amazing brand. I look forward to putting my personal touch on each and every design in my signature Kipling collections.

Fergie will not only be hands on with the designs, but she will do a lot to market the bags, including posing for ad campaigns and making personal appearances – all for the brand.

There will be two collections, one for Fall 2007 and the second for Spring 2008. Bags will hit stores (unsure which) September 1st 2007.

Now let’s hope Fergie can get past her devotion to motorcycle bags, as pictured above (a Balenciaga).

Victoria Beckham Carries Jimmy Choo’s Day Clutch

Yes! A photo was found proving Jimmy Choo’s oversized clutch indeed is a day clutch, by my standards.

Here is Victoria “Posh” Beckham with Jimmy Choo’s Fold-Over “Day” Clutch. Styled similarly to the Mahala and Marcia bags, the Fold-Over Clutch features black leather, bronze hardware, a wristlet strap and of course that square ring on front. And yes, it does fold over – at the zipper.

Selling for $1,250 (a bit much, but it is big) this purse is available now at Neiman Marcus.

… Now to find a more affordable day clutch in a day color.

The View Disses Louis Vuitton’s Tribute Bag

The girls on The View today dissed Louis Vuitton’s Tribute Patchwork bag, and rightly so. But then Rosie O’Donnell said she would “craft” an equal bag at home for $10. The girls even said they would give out the “knockoffs” to the audience. What do you think about this?

I’m sorry, but there is genuine fur on the bag, monogram, and logoed hardware – I don’t think Ro can come close.

Jessica Shows off a New Trend: the Day Clutch

Here’s Jessica Simpson with the newest upcoming trend, the day clutch. As seen on fashion blogs such as Fab Sugar. Clutches often in brighter colours or bold prints, or anything suitable for day and not evening, but most importantly—these clutches are large.

And that’s what I love about them, however I can’t find any of the big sizes being sold online yet. If you scout a nice, big day clutch, send it in!

Ode to Mary-Kate’s Jumbo Chanel Flap

Mary-Kate Olsen recently wrote in to the New York Times raving about her favorite purse.

“Timeless
Brand Loyalty
by Mary-Kate Olsen

I have a large, red quilted Chanel bag that I borrowed from my sister, Ashley. I wore it to an event and never gave it back. Luckily, she’s moved on to another bag, so I’m safe for now. I’m not quite sure how many bags I have, but let’s just say I have a few. When I find a bag I like, I tend to wear it to death until I become obsessed with another one. This probably happens three to five times a year. But I always come back to the Chanel. The size isn’t overwhelming, and it has enough subtle detail to keep it interesting. I also have the smaller version in blue and in white, but the red is definitely my favorite. I don’t have a stylist – I’d rather just do my own thing and put together my own outfits. The chain-handle bag is the perfect accent to almost any combination I come up with. I look at everything with a designer’s eye, but I wouldn’t change a thing about this bag. I think that’s why it’s a true classic.”

Ooh, I just love the size of the bag, but unfortunately it appears to me the straps grew in length with the size. I’m just not sure what to be dreaming for in a Chanel.
