John Galliano Spring 2009 – A Brit Art History Lesson

A clash of historical eras, a fantasy of theatrics and thoroughly modern technical skills.” – that’s the classic John Galliano look as described by NY Fashion. And the Brit seems determined to teach us a thing or two about history.

At the John Galliano Spring 2009 collection held at the runways of Paris, historical bearskin hats mixed with lovely evening dresses, colorful suits and wearable but sheer frocks.

The doll-ish hair and makeup of the models did not distract from the fact that the clothes are the center of attention here – and there’s not a designer that can pull off the Galliano look than, well, John Galliano.

Christian Lacroix Spring 2009 Collection is Super Glam

Edited by Tania

The Christian Lacroix Spring 2009 Collection shown at the runways of Paris just recently gives the impression that the designer is trying to make the label more ‘wearable’ to the younger clientele.

NY Fashion describes the Christian Lacroix look as being “unapologetically glamorous, dramatic, and expensive-looking.”

And we can clearly see that in the collection. The signature giant corsages ala-Carrie in Sex and the City, as well as bows were back in full force.

Check out the collection for yourself.

Positive Spring: Marni from Milan Fashion Week

Edited by Tania

Artsy, out of the ordinary. Funky fashion student—with a trust fund

That’s the “Marni look” as described by NY Fashion. And for the Milan Fashion Week, we’ve seen that the label does induce a funky fashion statement.

The theme of the show is positive spring – and we couldn’t have described Consuela Castiliogni’s creations any better. The designs are fun, upbeat, youthful – with a lot of exaggerated layers which ate both fresh and functional.

Check out the collection for yourself and tell us what you think.

Rumpled Charm from Prada Milan Fashion Week Spring 2009

Edited by Tania

NY Fashion couldn’t have stated it better. The Prada look is all about old-world Italian luxury wrapped in forward-thinking design.

That is exactly what we saw at Prada’s Spring 2009 runway show at the Milan Fashion Week. The theme is rumpled charm – and ‘rumpled’ has never looked better!

Check out the ultra-feminine creations by Miuccia Prada.

The collection started with this rumpled brown skirt-and-jacket combination with – what? No underlying shirt? That’s okay – the hint of the bra is something that we’ll see a lot of in the creations to follow. Continue reading ‘Rumpled Charm from Prada Milan Fashion Week Spring 2009′

Luxury, Sexy Spring Fashion with Donna Karan from New York Fashion Week

Edited by Tania Fedio

From the minute that Queens native Donna Karan launched her first collection in 1984 – the label already had the makings of a sensation. Her designs have evolved from the “Seven Easy Pieces” to a softer, more luxurious, cashmere-centered look in the following years.

NY Fashion describes the Donna Karan look as “Body-hugging jersey dresses, often adorned with big statement jewelry or elaborate belts.”

Let’s see what the famed designer has in store for us in her luxurious, sexy Spring 2009 collection which was showcased just recently at the NY Fashion Week.

Donna Karan herself dubbed the show as “Liquid Assets” – and this loosely draped dress really does look like liquid silk – and the color is absolutely gorgeous!

Fresh Spring Fashion – Rebecca Taylor from NY Fashion Week

Edited by Tania Fedio

Have you had enough of Fashion Week yet? I, for one, can’t wait to still see what other designers have in store for us.

This time, we’ll give you a dose of designer Rebecca Taylor’s creations.

NY Fashion describes the Rebecca Taylor look as:

Flirty and feminine in a sophisticated and romantic—not giggly—way. Sheer, layered fabrics and flashes of metallic detailing drape over leg-elongating pants and swishy skirts; cocktail dresses that, though muted, stand out thanks to their ethereal beauty.”

And according to the designer herself, her Spring 2009 collection is for the world traveler who’s cool, carefree and unencumbered.

Let’s all check out exactly what she means as we all drool over her fresh spring fashion collection.

First up, let us comment on this pair of shoes that you’ll get to see a lot of on the next items. These slouchy suede booties are chic, and they can easily be worn with almost anything. As for the white peasant blouse and the casual grey skirt – they’re just plain pretty!
