“Sex, Lies and Volleyball” Spring 2009 from House of Holland

Polka-dot tops, flower-printed skirts and jackets, Levi’s jeans with circular laser cutouts. Sounds like something from a couple of decades back? Not really. These are the items from the House of Holland Spring 2009 collection.

The designer’s theme was 80’s and 90’s inspired, though. According to Henry Holland himself:

It’s all about Beverly Hills, 90210. I bought a box set of the first series—1991, not the new one.”

Okay, so we should expect Brenda, Brandon, Kelly and Dylan-like costumes in the collection, right?

Let’s all check out the collection.

I can definitely see the 80’s influence in this first outfit. The silhouette of the sheer, floral-printed pair of pants is something that we’ve seen a lot in the past runway shows for NY Fashion Week. And talk about bold! That black-and-white polka dot shirt’s all the fashion statement that you need.

African Spring from Ralph Lauren – New York Fashion Week

Edited by Tania Fedio

We’ve already had a glimpse of what designer Ralph Lauren has in store for his high fashion fans in a previous post where we featured our top 20 picks from his Spring ‘09 collection.
But this time, we specified our list to the specific ensembles which matched the African Spring theme.

Check it out, a jungle safari adventure has never looked so fashionable!

When I searched for what the 80’s harem pants looked like – they were definitely unsightly! But the designers have given them a fresher, more modern and prettier look for the runway shows over the course of NY Fashion Week. This gold harem pants is no exception – and when you matched it with the Indiana Jones-esque hat, the low slung belts, the ripped shirt and the messenger bag – the results are just fab!

Luxury, Sexy Spring Fashion with Donna Karan from New York Fashion Week

Edited by Tania Fedio

From the minute that Queens native Donna Karan launched her first collection in 1984 – the label already had the makings of a sensation. Her designs have evolved from the “Seven Easy Pieces” to a softer, more luxurious, cashmere-centered look in the following years.

NY Fashion describes the Donna Karan look as “Body-hugging jersey dresses, often adorned with big statement jewelry or elaborate belts.”

Let’s see what the famed designer has in store for us in her luxurious, sexy Spring 2009 collection which was showcased just recently at the NY Fashion Week.

Donna Karan herself dubbed the show as “Liquid Assets” – and this loosely draped dress really does look like liquid silk – and the color is absolutely gorgeous!

Ralph Lauren Collection: Top 20 Picks

Stylishly dressing the Olympic team is just one of the many accomplishments of designer Ralph Lauren. With his vast experience in the fashion industry – there’s no telling where he’ll next dig his inspiration for his succeeding collections.

But for his NY Fashion Week show, Ralph Lauren has taken on a fresh look at some of his biggest hits. As Nicole Phelps of Style.com has succinctly put it:

Down came last season’s gold antlers and up went a Moroccan lamp: Ralph Lauren looked to North Africa for Spring. …Kudos to Lauren for addressing the diversity issue on the runways, and for a collection well done.

Check out the ultra-fab pieces from the Ralph Lauren Collection for Spring 2009.

This is the opening piece of the collection which is a really interesting ensemble. First, there’s the khaki camp shirt with one sleeve ripped at the shoulder. It was matched with gold harem pants, a couple of low-slung belts, a messenger bag and Indiana Jones hat.
