Presenting Clinique’s long last soft shine lipstick. I know how hard it can be to find a lipstick that lasts all day. But from the reviews, looks like this might actually work. Besides, Clinique’s never disappointed me. So I know my lips are going to feel luxurious and velvety all day long. There’s one shade for every skin tone and every need. Though I have my eyes set on the creamy nude and rubelite, you could choose from about 30 colors ranging from ‘Red, Red, Red‘ to ‘Rock Violet’. Mmm…

Take a look at this list of top 8 lipsticks I’ve personally been addicted to lately and you’ll know which fabulous rouge a levre to reach for next time you are at the beauty counter!

8. Color Design Sensational Effects Lipcolor Smooth Hold by Lancome …

Expert’s Opinion:

“These Lipcolors seem to last for hours (even after you eat!) and really moisturize my thirsty lips.”

– says Dedlejuse, from Beautifile

Description: Dress your lips in new Color Design Lipcolor for full coverage, smooth hold and sensational effects in one coat. Creams, sheens, shimmers and metallics — four modern finishes for custom lip styling. A range of 36 shades to create the perfect designer’s palette for any lip tone.

My Comment: If you’re looking for a gloss/lipstick combination, this is it. I tried Smooth Hold in the color Oh My!, which is shimmery and beautiful brown-beige. I love the fact that it almost looks like I’ve applied a gloss over the lipstick, so it gives me that extra shiny look.

Don’t be fooled, though… Smooth Hold is not sticky like a gloss at all. It’s creamy, not drying, and lasts and lasts.

Price: $22 at Lancome.com

Who hasn’t spent hours trying to decide what type of lipstick would make their lips most luscious, and what colours would suit them best? I know I have! So, here are my top ten rules for picking the best lipstick for you.

1. Thin lips …

Colors to Try: Peach, pale pink, light beige, clear
Colors to Avoid: Red, dark red, dark purple, any shade of brown

If you have thin lips it’s better to avoid dark and bright colors and settle for softer, natural sheer ones. Start with outlining your lips with a lip pencil that’s close to the natural color of your lips and then fill them in with light pink or light coral or beige lipgloss. A friend of mine who has thin lips often uses Lip Plumping glosses that make her lips look so much fuller.

Lipsticks to Try…

2. Full lips …

Colors to Try: Red, soft pink, berry, mauve
Colors to Avoid: None

With full lips, you have quite a few options. Try not to buy plumping glosses, and instead apply a small amount of clear gloss to the middle of your top lip for the same affect. I have naturally full lips, and find that I don’t need lip liner, and rose colours look the most amazing!

Lipsticks to try …

Aghast at the photo?! For those of you who don’t know, this is Jocelyn Wildenstein aka The real Catwoman, a wealthy socialite who has reportedly spent $4 million on plastic surgery over the years to win back her estranged husband. A true testimony to someone who didn’t know when to stop. Perhaps a warning to the 20 celebrities on our list?

1. Christina Aguilera

Christina’s nose looks way smaller in the photo on the right and although you can’t see it in this picture, she’s also rumored to have had a boob job done. She’s already starting to look a little fake and I hope that’s all the “work” she’s gonna get done.

As a thin-lipped girl myself, I’m always on the market for ways to make my lips look more full. If you can’t afford collagen injections like the stars, these three products may just be the next best thing.

1. Fusion Beauty LipFusion XL

Following up the success of their popular LipFusion line for daytime wear, Fusion Beauty has come out with LipFusion XL. This product, intended for nighttime use, works by applying tiny, dehydrated collagen particles to your lips.

When your body’s natural moisture interacts with the dehydrated collagen – poof! The collagen swells, and your lips look amazing! This product shows noticeable results in only a few days time, and the spearmint flavor is refreshing. My advice? Pair LipFusion XL with a regular LipFusion for daytime use, and get the best of both worlds!

Price: $50, visit Dillards.com

(updated with a video lesson)

It takes courage to go nude. And, let’s face it, a lot of people don’t know how to go nude correctly. Sometimes you just want to turn away in horror! But going nude is the wave of the future.

And here are the 5 tips to follow when going nude:

1. Picking the Shade

Look for a lipstick two shades lighter or darker than your skin color. Don’t go for the same shade as your skin color, that will definitely make you look mouthless (not a good look).

2. The Lipstick and The Complexion

If you’re lighter in complexion, consider a light to neutral pink like Urban Decay’s Peroxide or Rush; if you’re darker in complexion, consider a beige like Urban Decay’s Jailbait. (Urban Lipsticks cost $22)

3. Trying before Buying

Go to the makeup counter and try this shades on before you buy. Test drive it in different lights. See it in natural daylight, and office and restaurant lighting. This is definitely one makeup you don’t want to buy blindly.

Life is a runway and are you runway ready? Over the years I have learned many tips from the pros and I have the ones that actually work.

First comes first… Moisturize Moisturize Moisturize! During the day, use one with SPF; at night, no SPF. SPF can clog your pores so do not sleep in it! Makes sense right?

When applying your daily moisturizer, apply it all over the face and neck but not your eyes. Eyes call for their own moisturizer, an eye cream. The skin around the eye is way more thin and tender so give it what it needs and deserves. Moisturizer quenches your skin’s thirst so your skin won’t absorb your makeup, therefore it lasts longer. It also allows you to apply your makeup even and avoid makeup blotchiness.

After apply the moisturizers, its now time to create a blank canvas. A painter always begins with a blank canvas correct? Smashbox Photo Finish Primer is an amazing product!! It’s great for any age. It fills in fine lines and wrinkles and leaves the skin so smooth. Once you use this product, you will not be able to live without it and that’s a guarantee.

Now on the eyelid, use either foundation, concealer, a makeup eye cream (I love Revlon Eye Glide)…whatever you choose and this keeps the eye shadow from creasing. After applying it, be sure to let it dry.

Now, on to the lips…Remember if you’re going for a smoky or some kind of dramatic eye, down play the lips. You do not want to look like a clown. You need to pick one not both. If you’re using a red lipstick or a very commanding lipstick, make the eyes a neutral color.

Eyebrows are often ignored and they are one of the most important things you can do. Your eyebrows frame your face. Smashbox Brow Tech is to die for, no joke. If you do not believe me, go to QVC.com and watch the videos on it. It’s amazing.

Women kill me who do not do this… CURL YOUR EYELASHES! Why would someone not do this? It lifts your eye and makes you look so much more awake. I’m a firm believer in cheap eyelash curlers. I’ve bought a $30 eyelash curler thinking this has to work. Oh no, it doesn’t. It was horrible. I’ve bought other ones ranging from $15-$23. Those brands will remain nameless. Revlon eyelash curlers are one of the bests out there. Also, if you have a Big Lots store in your area, they sell 99 cent eyelash curlers that I actually prefer over Revlon. I get compliments all the time on my eyelashes. Use a blow-dryer to heat up your eyelash curler. You won’t believe the difference. If you think I’m crazy, think about this…When we want to curl our hair, we use a hot curling iron. We wouldn’t use a curling iron and not turn it on, right??

Now you’ll always feel runway ready! Enjoy!

Ever wonder how it feels like to be rescued by a Prince Charming when you are a damsel in distress? Yes, it certainly feels delightful! That’s what I feel whenever I use my top 5 beauty saviors – I get out of a rut, well… a beauty rut that is!

1. Sk-II Facial Treatment Essence

This is my very first cosmetic product that saves my face. I have been using this essence religiously for the past 4 years and the result has been undeniably satisfactory. My skin has been smooth, soft and supple ever since. Containing more than 90% Pitera®, this miracle water is very promising for healthy, radiant skin.

2. La Prairie Light Fantastic Brightening Eye Treatment

Like its name, this product is really fantastic! Not only it helps to conceal my chronic dark eye circles, but it also hydrates the area so they do not look dry/cakey. Say goodbye to panda eyes!

3. Benefit Dallas Pressed Powder

This product is my savior on “pale skin” days. It really brings back my face to life whenever I apply it as a blusher. Just remember not to use the little brush provided in the box since it does not blend evenly and comes out patchy on the skin. As for me, I prefer to use a broad round brush to apply it on my cheekbones. Try it and you will like it!

4. L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream

For a frequent hand washer like me, this hand cream works like heaven. It makes my hands feel adequately moisturized without the sticky feeling and best of all, it smells good!

5. Vaseline Lip Therapy Petroleum Jelly

This handy little tube keeps my lips from getting dry during those dreadful winter months or whenever I stay too long in an air-conditioned place. Besides that, the price is easy on the wallet as well!

I love lip gloss. I hardly ever wear lipstick anymore because there are so many gloss alternatives now that wear just as long as lipstick. Glosses tend to help keep my dry lips hold moisture better, so I have chapped lips less often. I also like the sheerness of gloss. Getting hint of color is just right for me, as opposed to the less subtle pigments of lip stick. What’s the downside? After snuggling with my cat her fur tends to stick more to the gloss than the lipstick. A small price to pay for the attractive benefits of lip gloss.

We’ve all seen the new Fall Palettes. They’re full of super dark, seductive colors, which look stunning on models and celebrities but can the average Beauty Maven pull the look off? Here are some tips to getting the dark, vampy lip look without looking like Marilyn Manson.

Add shine to update the look from the dark, matte lips of the 90’s. Define your lips with a deep black cherry shade like Wicked Lovely Lip Pencil in Tempt. Loosely line your lips and fill them in with the pencil to create a long lasting base color. Top it with a sheer black cherry glossy shade like Wicked Lovely Lip Gloss in Sultry to complete the whole lip look nicely. Finish with bronzer on your cheeks – the last thing you want with dark lips is pale skin. Try YSL Rouge Pur Lipstick in Purple Velvet and Dior Creme de Gloss in Delicious Plum for a more wine stained look.

If you’re more adventurous try going super goth-glam with a black lip. A good way to try on the trend is with a lower-pigment black lipgloss, such as Lancome’s Color Fever Gloss in Piha Black, which will be debuting in November. Part of the luxe lip set is Color Fever Lipstick in Piha Red, inspired by the red of a Christian Louboutin sole. Mix the two colors together for a dark, sultry look.

What do you think? Hot new look for the fall or should we keep it on the runway where it belongs?

N-

The costs to print and mail a 798-magazine are astounding. An issue that long is only possible because Vogue sold so many ads. It proves that the fashion industry is indeed healthy – and a significant contributor to the economy. I know everyone has a computer, but when’s the last time PC World was 798 pages?

It also proves the buying power of women, at least some of us. (I could never spend the equivalent of three car payments on a single pair of shoes, although one pair of ADORABLE Christian Louboutin slingbacks made me consider selling my body to raise enough cash.)

Moreover, the ads reinforce the grip fashion has on so many of us. When I was 12, I used to cut out particularly beautiful ads from my mother’s fashion magazines, slip them into protective plastic sheets, and store them in a three-ring binder meant for school.

I didn’t just look at the ads. I revered them. They showed me the magnificence of femininity. Lips perfectly made up. Breathtaking gowns. Dreamlike poses. Hair that shimmered.

At 12, the ads held me spellbound.

They still do, even though I don’t have the notebook anymore.

I know some of the models are dangerously underfed, there is lipstick now that makes your lips look laminated, and heel heights are impossibly high. But fashion pushes limits. Fashion challenges the norm. Fashion is endlessly exciting, and the ads are the link between us and the designers who make it that way.

Does your lip balm has enough SPF to keep your lips youthful and luscious?

If you use a Chopstick with 8 SPF or 5 SPF it’s hardly enough…

Professionals say that anything less than 30 SPF is very questionable even if you live up North.

After months of searching and trying, I found the lip balm that actually has enough protection to keep the free radicals away from my lips and that actually works for me!

It’s Shiseido Sun Protection Lip Treatment SPF 36 PA++

As it’s not a cheap product ($19.00 on Sephora), so I though you might want to know how this lip balm performs before you actually spend your money.

Shiseido Sun Protection Lip Balm PROS:

- it smells good

- it looks very stylish

- it has an SPF 36++ (which is pretty much all protection your lips need)

Shiseido Sun Protection Lip Balm CONS:

- it’s not cheap

- it gives your lips a nude look

But if you have beautiful tan skin AND white sparkling teeth, you will definitely enjoy this lip balm and the way it looks on you!

The last Con:

- you might have to reapply it every hour or so (I don’t know if it’s me, but somehow, my lip products keep fading away in an hour time)…

But apart from this, I am loving this Sun Protection Balm, especially, taking into consideration that nude lips are so huge this Fall! And it’s always great to do both: Protect and Be Fab at the same time, right? ;)

Well, not to worry because you can still look fab whilst beating the heat without boycotting makeup altogether! Check out our summer makeup IT list for your cosmetic bag- so don’t let the weather prevail, girlfriend – you can still look HOT in the midst of, well, the hot temperatures.

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer- Oil Free

.

Try it instead of foundation. Although your skin won’t get maximum coverage as a foundation offers, this tinted moisturizer will deliver an extra warm glow and light coverage to your skin – a great alternative to your usual heavier base. And hey, it’s oil-free, so you need not worry about the extra shine factor either.

It’s excellent at making one’s skin tone look even and it’s seriously easy to apply -just use a tiny bit and use your fingers to spread a very thin layer on your face.

Stila Stila Sun

Instead of the harsh UV rays, opt for a Stila bronzer! I mean, seriously. Who needs a burn from the real sun when you’ve got a skin-friendly “Sun” alternative by Stila that adds a hint of tan factor to your skin?

A perfect bronzer for those of us with fairer skin tones, this is not orange, but a beautiful neutral tan color with shimmer to add high lights to the places naturally darkened by the sun.

Bare Escentuals Buxom Babes Lip Tints

Instead of matte lipstick opt for this lip tint when hitting the beach. Bare Escentuals celebrates the summer and every one of us babes by creating funky little lip tints that give those puckers a healthy dose of antioxidants to keep lips soft and supple coupled with a yummy scented, sheer color. Hey, they didn’t call it Buxom Babes for nothin’!

I absolutely LOVE Buxom Babes Lip Tints in every shade. The texture is so unbelievably smooth. This is a lip gloss that actually feels like it is nourishing your lips, making them softer by the second. The shine is also out of this world.

Bring out the inner surf chick in you! Ok, so you might be wondering what this eye shadow has to do with surfing. Well, nothing actually. I don’t know about you, but this color palette reminds me of the ocean and sand. Very beachy.

The Colorful Eye Shadow Palette features four gorgeous eyeshadows in bands of color in one stealthy compact. You can highlight, shade, contour, add color, bring attention to the whole eye area with this single palette.

Tarte Cheek Stain

Get that Aunt Bertha-pinching-those-cheeks or post-flirtation and flattery from a cute boy look sans the blush brush. Tarte Cheek Stain imparts a natural looking flush to your cheeks, and it’s water based, so it won’t clog those precious pores. Plus it’s packed with a multi fruit complex, so your skin will reap some benefits as if you popped a Centrum. It comes in cheeky colors (no pun intended) such as Doll Face, Flushed, Sunkissed, and Blushing Bride… awww.

I love this product and with practice, it has become a staple in my makeup arsenal. The goal of a natural body flush is accomplished. The product has lasted me a very long time and I’m nowhere close to needing a replacement.
F. Nashville, fashionista from Nashville, US

Bourjois Pump Up The Volume Waterproof Mascara

Just because it’s now swim season, doesn’t mean your lashes have to lack in the volume department. So pump up the volume while doing those back strokes with Bourjois Pump Waterproof Mascara. It will magnify those eye lashes without running down your face during aquatic sports. This mascara is certainly the hot summer fling for my lashes this year.

I’ve tried numerous mascaras, but this is one of the best waterproof ones that I’ve tried yet…This mascara delivers and will survive a flood of tears – staying truly glamorous at all times.
The “Pretty” Obsessed, from Toronto, Canada

So even if the unforgiving sun is scorching and the air conditioner in your car is not working, don’t let that hinder you from achieving a J.Lo inspired glow this season. With these makeup must-haves for the summer, you’ll have a reason to say “Life’s a beach!“

You do not have to resort to collagen injections in order to achieve that pillow-lipped look which is permanently worn by gorgeous mom and actress Angelina Jolie. There are three steps that you can follow in order to achieve a natural, plumper looking lips so that you can sport that model-like pout all year.

Just like your skin, your lips need regular exfoliation to remove the dead skin cells. When you have flaking lips -those are actually caused by the regeneration of new skin tissue. To exfoliate your lips, use a specific lip exfoliant at least once a week.

Second, make sure to keep your lips moisturized at all times. This is especially true during the colder seasons of the year, when the lips tend to get dry and chapped. Whether you are using a bloody red lipstick or you prefer a natural sheen on your lips, look for products which contain a hydrating formula.

Finally, your lips will instantly look fuller and poutier with the right type of lipstick. There are plumping lipsticks available in the market today – choose one in a color which flatters your skin tone the most. Also, make sure that the plumping lipstick has SPF, moisturizers and hydrating ingredients for your lips.

My name is Katy and I am addicted to lipsticks. Nor do I have any intention of abandoning the love(s) of my life as another season leaves a flock of make-up looks like a ticking time bomb at my door. I am, quite frankly, powerless to resist.

Whilst you can’t beat a classic red or rose pink, I like a bit of a challenge and A/W’s gothic lips certainly provide. Like the finishing touch of chain mail on a warrior’s armor, evidently a slick of dark lipstick is all you need to fight the good fight of style.

From Yves Saint Laurent to Gareth Pugh to Rodarte, girls marched on with lips as dark as coal in various shades of purple, blue and black. As seductive as this appears on the runway, it is a difficult look to pull off without emerging corpse-like into the blinding sun. Look to Chloé, then, for a wearable take on the trend – stained berry lips are flattering, pretty – and just a little bit dark.

I have to admit, I’m a bit envious of those who have gotten their hands on this gorgeous ivory one-shoulder Jil Sander dress. Kate Bosworth was the first; she wore it to the premiere of The 11th Hour back in August. Yesterday, Argentine model Martina Klein wore the same dress to GQ’s 7th Annual Man Awards. Both girls are svelte and striking, but which one do you think wore it better?
