They’re the celebrities we think of when we hear the word celebrities. You don’t have to be handsome or beautiful to become a celebrity though. This man might not be the most handsome man in the world, I guess some people even call him ugly, but that doesn’t stop him from being one of the most celebrated actors in the world. He has reached great success with movies like Dead Poet’s Society, Good Morning Vietnam, Mrs. Doubtfire and Good Will Hunting, just to mention a few.

He’s pale, skinny and it’s not difficult to tell that he’s on drugs, but yet he was able to get a beautiful girlfriend, the world famous Kate Moss to be specific. Doherty is singer in Babyshambles and the career is going ok as well. Not bad for an ordinary guy like Pete.

He doesn’t exactly look like the prince in shining armour with that huge mouth of his, but still he’s a really popular musician. I’m fairly sure that this woman will never stop surprising us. She’s got lots of talent, she can act and she can sing. She can also write songs. She’s not exactly the most feminine and cute woman in the celebrity world, that’s for sure, but she’s a very good actress and I think you all have seen her great performances in films like Halloween, A Fish Called Wanda and Freaky Friday. She has won the Golden Globe twice and she’s also an author of books for children. This is a lady with many terrific skills.

This guy is great! He’s one of the funniest actors I know and he was excellent in There’s Something about Mary as well as in Meet the Fockers and Starsky & Hutch. He has also won the Emmy Award and several MTV Movie Awards. He’s not the most handsome guy in Hollywood though but as you can see that doesn’t matter.

Maybe she haven’t got the prettiest face but she’s got plenty of charm and of course lots of talent, otherwise she wouldn’t be where she is today. Well, after seeing this picture I guess most of us agree that he’s not exactly the man everyone is dreaming about. That didn’t stop him from getting married to the famous beauty Pamela Anderson. He’s also a famous musician and actor and he has sold more than 22 million albums.

Ok, she is not beautiful, she’s got a nose that none of us envy and the same goes with her mouth, but she has so much else. She has won Oscars, Grammy Awards, Emmy Awards, Academy Awards and Golden Globe Awards and she is very popular, both as a singer and as an actress. She’s actually one the best selling solo recording artists in USA and she has sold more than 145 million albums. Not bad!

Her face reminds me a little of the face of a horse since it is so tall, and I don’t envy her nose either. What I do envy is her talent and her popularity. I guess almost everyone has seen her in Sex and the City and she’s really great as Carrie. That role also gave her several Golden Globe Awards and Emmy Awards. Awards that she totally deserved.

This man is not exactly a hunk, but he’s a terrific actor with excellent performances in films like JFK, Wild Things and Apollo 13. He’s been married to the same woman since 1988, not exactly common for a celebrity so this guy really is something extra even without being handsome.

His tall face and long hair sure doesn’t attract me, but I can’t deny that he’s a great musician. He’s a singer, songwriter and he’s also been performing in some films. His career started in the 60’s and he’s still going strong 4 decades later.

He’s talented, he’s funny, he’s terrific, and that made him a very popular actor. You have probably seen him in School of Rock, Nacho Libre or King Kong and if you have, you probably know that he’s an excellent performer. The only thing he doesn’t have is beauty, but as we already know, that’s not the most important thing.

Renée is one of the highest paid females in Hollywood and she deserves it, since she’s a really good actress. All the awards that she has won is a proof of her big talent. Even though she can’t compete with Angelina Jolie or Halle Berry when it comes to beauty, she sure can compete with them when it comes to performance.

It’s not difficult to understand why this guy was chosen to play Frodo Baggins in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, that must be because he really looks like a hobbit. He has won several awards and will probably be seen in lots of movies for many more years.

You don’t have to look good to win the Academy Award. Nicolas Cage is a living proof of that after winning the award for his performance in Leaving Las Vegas. Have you heard The Howard Stern Show on Sirius Satellite Radio? If so, you know who this humorist is. Partygirl Paris Hilton led the Hollywood party pack in the fancy dress stakes as she donned two different similarly saucy outfits for a weekend of Halloween shindigs.

First up was a nautical theme, as Paris stepped out for a pal’s fancy dress bash in Hollywood’s Bel Air.

Wearing a strapless corseted minidress decorated with anchors, topped off by a sailors hat, Paris showed plenty of her perma-tanned leg.

But it was her second outfit in which she upped the raunch factor as she adopted a demented Alice in Wonderland theme with a white PVC minidress, with layered petticoats, suspenders and stockings.

And the final touch of drama, a pair of bizarre contact lenses.

Paris was letting her hair down after working on a film in Toronto all week and after getting in a row with an adult movie shop which was promoting her infamous home-made sex tape ‘One Night in Paris’.

Petulant Paris demanded that the promotional posters were torn down, and threatened to sue the store for all they had. Apparently while wearing another costume – this time a skeleton and mask outfit.

But the ex-jailbird wasn’t the only celebrity out on the Halloween prowl. Desperate Housewife Teri Hatcher, looked a right fright dressed as the Queen of Hearts at the Dream Halloween charity bash.

Wearing a face full of clown-like make up, and a tightly corseted ball dress, Hatcher’s outfit was a red carpet nightmare. But on this occasion it was fitting.

hey hey! i tried to make it down to the beach – but something came up i had to deal with – so perhaps next weekend i can get my sand & surf on! i’m sure most of you have heard by now that 1978’s classic horror film halloween (directed by john carpenter) has been revisited (or if you prefer updated & re-imagined) by metal rocker turned director rob zombie – normally i’m not such a fan of film remakes (especially when the original still holds up today) but i’m a huge fan of mr. zombie – his first two films house of 1000 corpses & the devil’s rejects both had great style & gore – i’m very curious to see how he handled his latest film project (at least two things remain the same – villain ‘michael meyers’ & the haunting theme music…but no jamie lee curtis who rocked as the original ‘laurie strode’) the new halloween (join the film on myspace) hits theaters at the end of this month on august 31st! (if it does well at the box-office (which i assume it will) we might be seeing plenty more remakes of kick-ass horror films) make sure to watch the scary trailer below which was just released! popbytes over & out for now…xxoo!

Jamie Lee Curtis has written an essay for The Huffington Post entitled, “Mom, It’s Not Right!” ,which refers to Hilton’s outburst as she was sent back to jail last week. ((Barbara Walters tried to explain on The View today that Paris was referring to the fact that the guards wouldn’t let her hug her mommy, as they had after the first sentencing. “Mom. Mom. Mom! It’s not right!”. Nice try Barbara. You can shut up now.))

“It was a painful episode to watch,” Curtis writes. “A young woman, begging her mother, the person who should have taught her right from wrong, to help her, to teach her the rules of life. It was a little too late. And so she wept as the Universe was bringing the teaching and settling the score.”

Curtis says today’s celebs are lacking guidance: “The sad paths of the three most popular young women” — Hilton and, presumably, Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears — “have ended in prison, rehab and mental illness. I hope their mothers are worried sick and wondering, ‘What could I have done differently?’ And our culture should be asking the same question too.”

“Can we take the wrenching sight of Paris asking her mother, ‘why?’ and ask it of ourselves? … Wake up, Mothers, and smell the denial.”

Actress Jamie Lee Curtis penned a guest blog on the Huffington Post in the wake of all the recent young Hollywood scandal, admonishing celebrity moms for not giving their daughters the tools to cope with their status. “As the denouement of a really upsetting celebrity scandal came to its close, a tearful child pleaded to her mother… ‘Mom, it’s not right.’ It was a painful episode to watch,” Curtis writes of Paris Hilton’s court appearance last Friday. “A young woman, begging her mother, the person who should have taught her right from wrong, to help her, to teach her the rules of life. It was a little too late. And so she wept as the Universe was bringing the teaching and settling the score. I’m in no glass house. I understand only too well the pitfalls of maternal amnesia and denial. I am not throwing stones but merely a lifesaver, a buoy of sanity and understanding.” Curtis also calls on the mothers of Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears, saying, “The sad paths of the three most popular young women – privileged but from varying backgrounds, talented, beautiful and spectacular – have ended in prison, rehab and mental illness.
