The Power of Ads

By Adrienne R

The current issue of Vogue is 798 pages.

If you tried to fly with it, American Airlines would probably charge you an excess baggage fee.

An issue that long is significant for several reasons — especially for refuting anyone who says that haute couture is frivolous or meaningless.

1. Reality Show

Runways on one hand, street – on the other. Skip fashion shows, because the edgiest fashion re-identifies itself in real life, which is just like it. Photography by Terry Richardson, realization by Emmanuelle Alt.

I am SO loving these Chanel leather and patent leather high boots! They SO remind me of Pretty Woman and they look SO fab with skinny jeans (in the street picture)…

Do You Find Sergio Rossi Shoes Sexy?

I always thought that the sexiest shoes were Louboutin’s and Jimmy Choos. But is it so?

I’ve just been to Neiman Marcus (home of Miu Miu, Gucci, Louboutin’s and many other big name shoes) and guess what?

The only sexy pair (not the I am over 40 kind) was the Christian Louboutin Pigalle Patent Pumps like these (only in hot florescent red):

And these Christian Louboutin Satin Peep Toes:

But other than that, there was nothing to lay my eyes on…

So, without making a purchase, I got home and started browsing the websites of shoe designers. And guess what? I finally found a designer who’s shoes ARE sexy (at least to me :)! And it’s Sergio Rossi! :)

For instance, let’s look at that ad above. I am sure you all have seen it before – it was all over the fashion magazines. And guess what, those sandals in the ad are not the sexiest ones in the collection! Almost every pair looks so beautiful, I want at least 10 different pairs of Sergio Rossi shoes!

But back to real life, 10 pairs isn’t happening any time soon, only in case I died and came back as Victoria Beckham. So, having money for one pair only, I am torn between these babies:

Metalic Blue Carung Sandals with Crystals

Gold Leather Platform Sandals

Turquoise Stone High Heel Sandals

They all are so pretty it makes it impossible to choose! I am even considering selling my Macbook and getting back to my old Acer just to have some extra cash for another pair… but that’s insane, right?

So, do Sergio Rossi look sexy and cool to you, or is it just my special Rossi obsession that makes them look so hot to me?

Looking at them I even came up with a theory that sexy footwear should have some formula or something, and here is what, I think, makes shoes sexy:

What Makes Sexy Shoes Sexy

#1 The heels should be high, the higher, the better, so that you feel AND look sexy no matter what! With Sergio Rossi it’s 120 mm on average. I remember I had a pair of Pumps with a 140 mm heel, they were so beautiful and they hurt so bad, I felt like a ballerina, who ran off stage, but then in a week or so I got so used to those hills, 100 mm felt like flats afterwards.

#2 The heels should have this perfect form – long, slim, even pointy pointy so that they scream “sexy”! As in Sergio Rossi shoes.

#3 When it comes to sexy, color is important. Unfortunately black shoes are the ones that are more appropriate for the office, and a few pair of black evening sandals may be referred to as sexy. I personally love the colors, of course there are some blacks and neutral toned shoes in Sergio Rossi collection too, but the majority of them have these pretty colors – pinks, blues, reds, violet, greens – and nothing makes a shoe more sexy than the right palette. If you wear shoes with color, they WILL be noticed and so will you!

#4 Every Sergio Rossi pair looks sexy not only in the picture but on actual feet too (which is not always the case as we know – remember the notorious red patents from the Jimmy Choo ad? They look so sad when you actually put them on…). Sergio Rossi shoes, on the other hand look even more fabulous when worn – just browse the collection on SergioRossi.com and you’ll see for yourself!

Well, “that’s all I had to say about that”.

And what about you guys, talking sexy shoes, which shoes YOU like? Are Sergio Rossi’s on your List? Where do you get your hottest shoes?

Do Louboutin’s Red Soles Still Touch Your Soul?

It’s a common knowledge in the fashion world that the sexiest foot wear comes with red soles and a Christian Louboutin logo on it.

But is it just me or Louboutin started to suck? The shoes are not the way they used to be – just some 5 years ago each and every single pair of Christian Louboutin shoes was a subject of love and worship of everyone I know and today it’s just … shoes. Expensive, high quality shoes. Period.

Is it just me or did Louboutin lose it?

Anyway, here are some shoes from the previous Louboutin Fall-Winter 2007-2008 Collection (5 of them at the top ) – the ones that you might be getting with a decent percent off now.
