I almost never wear sneakers. I’m not a sneaker fashion girl so just about the only time I ever wear anything on my feet that lace up is when I go running, and we all know how often that is.

However, I was intrigued by the Puma Basket CC, where “CC” stands for “Color Change.” The Rifle Green-Tender Shoots-White shoes are made of a heat-sensitive synthetic leather that changes color in different temperatures and environments. Granted, they don’t go from black and green to oh, say pure white and screaming royal blue when the mercury starts rising, but they do change when you touch them (heat of your hand). No. Just…no. This Lulu Guinness Glazed Straw Basket with Ruffle Scallop Top looks like something my grandma might pick up from the county fair crafts expo, only even she has better taste than this kitschy creation. The black glazed straw basket, though quaint, isn’t bad on its own – but the hummingbird and flower embroidery are tacky times ten. Sure, great-aunt Myrtle will love it when she heads out on her next bird-watching expedition, but she’s not exactly Anna Wintour, is she?

At the end of April, I will be attending a picnic down in Bakersfield on a friend’s family ranch. Boasting a bit of a south of the border flair, the new Coach Lily Straw Basket is indeed cute, but ultimately not worth the nearly $700 price tag. Think about it: it’s straw adorned with colorful hanging tags. Neutral leather trims the opening and lines the handles, but there isn’t anything here that really stands out. Straw is one of those on-trend materials that’s sure to carry over for a few seasons, but there are so many other, more affordable bags out there that this just seems pointless. It’s limited edition and available at Coach.

Coach has actually made an accessory line printed with a red/pink fragrance theme in celebration of their new perfume. They’ve also made up a limited edition compilation of the LE Jasmine XL Straw “Basket” bag filled with pieces from the line, plus a pair of shades and the exclusive to the “gift basket”, bronzer compact (which I think is a pretty awesome little beauty case).

The main feature of this LE gift set is the Jasmine XL Straw Basket ($998 separately, limited on its own as well) which features a rounded body of straw, orange leather and snake skin trim, brass hardware with ringed full-height straps and fragrance-print lining with 5 interior pockets. It’s sized 24″ x 13.5″ x 10.5″!
The official list of items included is: Fragrance-print crusher hat, beach towel, Framed coin purse, Patti sunglasses, and an exclusive Bronzer Set in the Fragrance Print Case.

The cost of the package is $1600 (eek) too steep for me even though I’d love to own this, but instead I can pick up a little piece of the “fragrance” line separately. My choice is the unique “Brush case” which can be used as a beauty case or even a clutch! Love it. If you can’t get the package, which is in limited quantities, perhaps look on eBay for that exclusive bronzer, as I will. (No low price guarantee, though.)

If you have the cash/budgeting and love for Coach or just plain cute accessories, go for it, it’s sold online at coach.com or in select boutiques, but you can always have it shipped free by calling your favorite store location/favorite SA.
