As much as I would like to forget the fru-fru disaster of a dress that I wore on my prom night years ago - I have the pictures to prove it. Fortunately for the high school students of today, they do not need to be a wallflower because there are a lot of fabulous, stylish and standout dresses to choose from.

So what’s hot for 2008? A full, flowing gown is still okay but it is perfectly fine and fashionable to show a little leg. A short dress with ruffles, sequins or even a floral design will give you that straight-from-the-runway look. Another take on the hot, short prom dresses of today is something similar to the ones sported by Rihanna - a body-hugging bandage dress.

If you still want to wear a classic floor-length gown, choose one in a dazzling red color. Fuchsia, purple, metallic shades, and bright yellows and greens will also work. To sum it all up, the words to describe your trendy prom dress for this year should be flirty, fun, sparkling and hot!
