7 Reasons to Get a Tinted Moisturiser …
A tinted moisturiser basically combines the cosmetic benefits of a foundation with the nourishing goodness of a great facial lotion. It affords you coverage, but at the same time, it helps to quench dry skin and protect against further dehydration. I’m a huge fan of this kind of hardworking, versatile product, and a tinted moisturizer is definitely a must have in my summer makeup bag. To get you convinced as well, I’ve put together a list of 7 Reasons to Get a Tinted Moisturiser.
1. It’s Light
I’m not a fan of the heavy foundation. Too much of it gives the face a dead, mask-like quality; it also reflects natural light in an odd, unpleasant way and, unless you have a lot of time on your hands, it can be a real nightmare to blend. Because a tinted moisturiser is essentially a facial lotion, it has a sheerness to it which prevents it from sitting too thickly on the skin. This means it’s light and natural looking, and won’t build up in a waxy flesh-coloured layer in the way a regular makeup can sometimes.
2. Tinted Moisturizer Is Breathable
Because they’re so light, tinted moisturisers tend not to block pores to the same extent as a regular foundation. This makes them a good summer choice, when skin tends to become easily clogged with sweat, oil and make up.
3. It’s Quick
I’m a little impatient, and when it comes to blending in layers of concealer and base, I often get bored and rush through the process. With an ordinary foundation, this has led me into disaster – the smeary look is never attractive. However, because a tinted moisturiser is practically translucent, it takes no time at all to work into the skin. Thus it’s far more forgiving than ordinary make up, and that suits me down to the ground.

I recently started using a foundation brush and you’re so right! The blending process is so much easier and the results so much better!
Thanks for your suggestion about Clinique and for reading this post :)
Thanks a lot for great advice!
I hope you don’t mind me putting in my 2 cents, but I’ve tried a lot of tinted moisturizers in my ‘makeup career’ :) I’d have to say my favorites (drugstore ... See more product wise) are the Neutrogena’s Healthy Defense Tinted Moisturizer an the Sonia Kashuk tinted moisturizers. They aren’t too pricey and provide a nice, light coverage. The Neutrogena formula is a little creamier than the sonia kashuk one, which comes out is pretty runny and gives the most sheer wash of coverage. So if you have more acne marred skin i wouldn’t recommend the Sonia Kashuk one. The Laura Mercier and Shiseido ones are also really nice but pretty pricey. However, they are a few steps up from the drugstores, so if you dont mind splurging on your face products then i would definitely give the Laura Mercier one a go. That’s my favorite. :)
Wow! Thank you so much for your advice! Frankly, I’ve been completely lost, checked out a dozen of tinted moisturizers in Sephora and came home empty handed. I’d love to ... See more try Laura Mercier, it sounds lovely. Thanks again so very much!
