1

Sleep Well

If you’re looking to boost your energy levels, take a look at your sleeping patterns. Lack of sleep can cause poor concentration, mood swings, and contribute to weakened immune function. When combined with the general tiredness you get from lack of sleep, these could all leave you feeling really low in energy. Aim for around 8 hours of sleep a night as this is the optimal amount for maintaining good health and vitality.

2

Get Active

Getting up and active may be the last thing you want to do when tired, but increasing the amount of activity you do can help increase your energy levels. Physical activity keeps your circulation pumping and when you exercise, your body releases feel good hormones. Even after an intense workout, you’re likely to feel energized. Try and be as active as possible throughout the day, and try and exercise regularly throughout the week.

3

Eat Well

A wholesome and healthy diet can really make a difference when it comes to raising your energy levels. Aim for lots of wholesome foods, fresh fruit and vegetables, and try to cut back on processed foods. Many of the processed foods we eat are packed with sugars that can slow us down. Eating regularly throughout the day is also important and try not to skip any meals (especially breakfast!).

4

Stay Hydrated

Being dehydrated can really sap your energy levels. Dehydration is also one of the more common causes of fatigue. To stay in peak condition, make sure you’re drinking enough water for your needs (this may depend on how much exercise you do and how much fluid you need to replace daily). Also try and limit the amount of salty foods you eat, as they can contribute to dehydration as well.

5

Have a Nap

Sleep really can work wonders on the body. Sometimes a quick power nap can help recharge and refresh the system. Keep your naps under an hour, since anything longer can end up having the opposite effect and leave you feeling drowsy!

Listen to Upbeat Music

Music can be a bit of a mood booster. So, when you’re feeling a bit low on energy, why not put on your favourite upbeat tunes to help get you by? Listening to up-tempo and upbeat music can help put the spring back in your step.

7

Get Some Fresh Air

Being cooped up inside all day can be a drain. Take a break and head outside for a breather. Being outdoors, even for a short amount of time, can help you boost your energy levels. During the summer it might be the sunshine lifting your mood and in the winter it might be the cool chill that livens up your system.

These are just a few tips to help boost your energy levels. If you’re constantly feeling sluggish, then consulting a professional may be a good way to pinpoint any bigger issues. What tips do you have when it comes to boosting your energy levels?
