It took 40 years, but better late than never. Frances E. Allen was awarded with the $100,000 Turing Award for her work at IBM corp for her efforts in optimizing the performance of compilers. She is the first woman to ever receive this award. Frances started at IBM in 1957 and retired in 2002, but has remained active over the past couple of years with programs that encourage women to study computer science. Congratulations to Allen, ...
