7 Best Perfumes for Winter …

The changing of season means new perfume to compliment the cooler weather. That’s why I put a list of 7 fabulous perfumes that from my experience are the best for winter season. Hope this post will help you find a wonderful, warming scent that will make you feel special during the cold days and nights …

1. J’Adore Dior

Description: Radiant, sensual, sophisticated, J’adore is a fragrance that celebrates the renaissance of extreme femininity and the power of spontaneous emotion with a brilliant bouquet of orchids, the velvet touch of Damascus plum, and the mellowness of amaranth wood.

Notes: Mandarin, Champaca Flowers, Ivy, African Orchid, Rose, Violet, Damascus Plum, Amaranth Wood, Blackberry Musk.

Style: For the confident, sensual woman who celebrates her femininity – this is Dior’s golden girl.

Average price: $50 – $88 at sephora.com

My Comments: The great thing about J’Adore is it is very very subtle. This is good of course, especially if you’re walking through a mall and the reps just start spraying you with this perfume.

No matter how much you use J’Adore, it is never stuffy or overpowering – it’s just right. So, the next time you walked through the mall, let them spray you – I promise… you’ll love it!

2. The One by Dolce and Gabbana

Description: The One is a warm, oriental floral, with modern sensuality – a fragrance with a strong personality, and a contrasting golden sweetness. Created for the ultimate diva, The One is at once tempting, modern, and glamorous, embracing a touch of classicism.

The top notes radiate a vibrant luminosity, with a sun-touched citrus, while warm fruity notes of luscious lychee and succulent peach add to the delight.

The passionate heart evokes an exploding femininity, with an opulent floral soul, creating a distinct, audacious signature. An unexpected hint of plum glows as the base finally blooms with luscious allure into the lasting warmth of vanilla and sweetened ambery-musk notes.

Notes: Bergamot, Mandarin, Lychee, Peach, Madonna Lily, Muguet, Plum, Jasmine, Vetiver, Vanilla, Amber, Musk.

Style: Tempting. Modern. Glamorous.

Average Price: $50 – $85 at sephora.com

My Comments: The One by Dolce & Gabbana is a perfect signature fragrance. Since the love it/hate it classic Chanel No5, I haven’t found a scent that I rate more than this. Not your typical girly scent, this smells of elegance and sophistication – the perfect blend for us modern independent women.

3. L’Instant de Guerlain

Description: Instant is reminiscent of your first kiss, the moment you fell in love, the first time you held your child … This soft, sexy scent is an intricate blend of interwoven fragrance harmonies, like citrus honey, magnolia inclusion, and amber harmony, that translates into a scent that’s destined to become a classic.

Notes: Citrus Honey, Magnolia Inclusion, Amber Harmony.

Style: Sparkling. Airy. Enveloping.

Average Price: $66 – $110, at sephora.com

My Comments: I absolutely adore L’instant of Guerlain as a winter perfume. This is the scent to choose wether you are wearing a cosy cashmere sweater or a fabulous evening gown. It envelops beautifully and it’s probably one of the most classy fragrances I’ve ever wore. Love it!

Mmm.. Beyond Paradise from Estee Lauder (right in top photo) is my all time favorite scent.. Besides Escada’s Pacific Paradise (hehe, coincidence that both of my faves have “paradise” in the name!), it’s the only scent I ever wear.

Can someone please explain to me why they no longer make womanswear by alexander julian? I can not understand why they would take the all time best off the markwt.

My all time favorite as got to be Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel. It works great for daytime and nighttime wear.
For a guy Gio has got to be the greatest! Not to heavy and not too light. Works great for work and Tommy for men for night.
For a guy the cologne he wears needs to be something that if
you are standing next to him, if just reaches out to you and
calls to you, not drown you in it!

    Dear Tyra,

It IS frustrating… :( If only they were substituting those great products with something better, but no… I have no idea why companies do that!

    Gilnar,
Are you looking for a warm, woodsy fragrance for women??

  16. 16 Gravatar Icon Gilnar, 09/30/09 at 12:03 am

Yes Sheila, I am. There was an old perfume called cashmire, if I recall correctly, anyhow, yes woodsy and warm, can you help? Thanks

  17. 17 Gravatar Icon Olga Moore, 09/30/09 at 11:45 pm

    Hi Gilnar,

I think Woody Oriental is what you are looking for. I personally love Prada, but there are plenty more to choose from. Please take a look at this page, I am sure you’ll find what you are looking for:

    Good luck! :)

Hello Olga, some of the listed perfume I have tried and liked so i will probably find something in the sephora list, might give prada a try. Thanks a bunch!

My favorites are Paris Hilton’s ‘Fairy Dust’ (though it doesn’t seem to last all day), and ‘Diamonds’ by Emporio Armani. Though I don’t have that large of a perfume collection.

    Stephanie,
Thank you for those suggestions. I wouldn’t try Fairy Dust because I’m biased against Paris enough to not try it but I’ll definitely give Diamonds a shot. :)
