Talk about a very unique marriage proposal! Pop diva Mariah Carey, best known for the songs “Hero,” “Butterfly” and most recently, “Touch My Body,” recently spoke to People magazine and disclosed that husband Nick Cannon “kidnapped” her and proposed to her twice! Mariah also confirmed that she and Nick kept the whole relationship quiet because she wanted to avoid people who merely wanted to cast doubts over their ultra speedy courtship and top-secret nuptials.
“Then, one night, while hanging out on the rooftop of her Manhattan apartment, Cannon popped the question with a 17-carat diamond hidden inside a candy ring pop. “They’ve been calling me Cinderella since I first started out,” she says of the fairytale-worthy proposal. “Most people would think, Okay, please! This doesn’t happen in real life.”
However, Nick seemed very persistent and kidnapped the diva and made his second proposal.
“He sort of kidnapped me and took me on a helicopter ride,” she says. “Then he re-proposed.”
Now who wouldn’t fall for that and give her most resounding yes?
Mariah, who was first married to Sony mogul Tommy Mottola, said that it was always her dream to be “kidnapped” from her life.
Obviously her dream came true!
