Love at First Sight Goes Online

By Katie โ€ข

There are eight million people living on the tiny island of Manhattan and would you believe that in the swarm of so many individuals, you could track down a complete stranger? Guess what, you can!

Brooklyn resident, Patrick Moberg has given a whole meaning to the statement โ€œWe met and fell in love on the Internet." He set out on a quest to find his true love using the Internet, and as a true modern day Romeo, he created a website dedicated to a young lady he laid eyes on, for first and only time, on a subway train.

Moberg first spotted his โ€œNY Dream Girlโ€ in the crowded subway on Sunday, November 4. After he lost the anonymous brunette in the crowds, he raced home to create a Web site devoted to finding her, www.nygirlofmydreams.com. To make it easier for the general public to follow, he sketched a drawing of the girl, who was sporting blue shorts, blue tights, and a red flower in her hair (huh?) and listed his e-mail address AND cell phone number to receive clues that would lead him to his mystery girl. Well he received hints and proposals!

On Tuesday, November 6, a friend of the woman contacted him and sent him a picture so he could confirm her identity. Turns out the mysterious subway brunette was Camille Hayton, an intern at magazine BlackBook, who happens to be from Melbourne, Australia, and now lives in Brooklyn.

Moberg confirmed the two have been speaking and they are going to see where it leads to. To alert his new adoring fans, Moberg posted a notice on the Web site - "Found Her! Seriously!" So how will the story end? Only time will tell, but for now Moberg wrote on his website: "In our best interest, there will be no more updates to this websiteโ€ฆUnlike all the romantic comedies and bad pop songs, you'll have to make up your own ending for this."

So that's where this so-called modern fairytale ends--for now. You know what they say- love finds you when youโ€™re not even looking for it. Moberg has proven NOW love finds you when the rest of New York City is looking! [The Age]
