Judge Temporarily Bars Project Runway from Leaving Bravo

By Amani Harrison

Remember how Heidi, Tim and the Project Runway were auf to Lifetime Television Networks, in the process ditching the insufficiently appreciative Bravo and its owner NBC Universal? Well, it seems that Bravo and NBCU may have something to say about that little bit of disloyalty.

On Friday, a New York Supreme Court judge issued a preliminary injunction barring Project Runway’s production company, the Weinstein Co. from moving the show to Lifetime. NBCU and Bravo filed suit in April, alleging that the move constituted a breach of contract. NBCU maintains that the terms of their contract with the Weinstein Co. give a right of first refusal over future Project Runway seasons. The judge agreed enough with NBCU to stop Project Runway from leaving Bravo.

The new Project Runway season is currently scheduled to start in November. Since the court’s order also prevents the Weinstein Co. from promoting Project Runway on Lifetime, Season 6 is already off to rocky start even before the first show is aired. We’ll keep you posted on who’s in and who’s out.
