Star,
Well ofcourse it isn't advisable to skip meals. I think the focus of Olga's story was simply how much importance her friend gave to beauty and skin care products. Now ofcourse skipping meals is drastic but women should pay more attention to their skin. If you can save for that perfect pair of shoes or that bag, you can definitely spend some money on good stuff for your skin! But I agree that it's not enough to just invest on skin stuff when you aren't healthy on the inside. Fruits and veggies are your best bet to clear up that acne and blemishes.

Olga,

I couldn't help but notice you said that your friend would skip dinners to help her skin because we only have one body and need to take care of it. Well how is skipping meals any better?

Although all these products are AMAZING, in the end, if you want to stay healthy and youthful you need to make sure you're intaking everything your body needs to function. A strict healthy diet and exercise (yes I know it sounds cliche) is the best bet. All the products in the world can't hide the fact that you're not healthy on the inside, so start there.

And I'm only saying this from experience, I use to have horrible skin and tried EVERYTHING!!! proactive being one of the worst...so i did some more reading and found that a lot of people eating greens had amazing skin, so I tried it, and it worked. Now I make sure my body gets all the nutrients it needs to function and I've yet to have a problem, both inside and outside.

And don't knock the drugstores, I just use a bar of soap and I still get asked for ID when I buy a scratch ticket and I'm 25.

Hey Moie,
I don't have frizzy hair but I love what TRESemme products do to my hair. Ofcourse different products work differently for all of us. Have you tried out their stuff though? Also Bed head has some great stuff. They have a control freak anti-frizz shampoo and conditioner that have great reviews online. Try them out and let me know if it works for you :)

Hey!

I found this post very helpful. Bodyshop, here I come!! I agree with you , products for 80's babies are neglected, or should I say we don't have specific products to keep our skin in premium condish!!

I have fairly thin hair, and it tends to friz very easily. Do you know of any good shampoo/conditioners that could help with that?

Thanks for the great article!!

Hi Marina,

I was just disagreeing on the "too expensive for 20-smth. girls" part. I was just saying that it's never too early to save up for the best beauty products, as they'll pay you big later on, that's all :)

Hope you liked those hair masks! I've been using Kerastase one since Christmas and it totally saved my traces! (I kind of burnt my hair a bit with my friend's hair straightener and nothing could make it soft and silky again except for this mask!

I know they say silicon based products do not moisturize your hair, they just create an illusion, but I've tried the "natural" ones for months and they didn't do a thing. And this Kerastase mask brought my hair to life right after the first time I used it!

Anyway, hope you find a product that'll work for your locks! ;)

Hi Marina,

I don't agree with you on this. I have a friend, who's older sister is a former model and she looks absolutely amazing at her 35, her skin is pretty much flawless and I know for a fact that she didn't have any job done and didn't have Botox injections, just weekly face massages in a salon and the best beauty products she could possible get.

She once told me that when there were times she was so broke she'd skip dinners, she would still go to a beauty counter and get the best makeup and skin care products, as your face, as well as the rest of your body is not something you can "buy" or "replace" over time (let's face it, those surgeries are no good, people still look bad, a bit younger but bad). So, she said it's better to wear the same pair of pairs of jeans, than put on your skin something that'll you regret later.

So, now I follow her advice and whenever I go shopping, I get all my beauty stuff first and than go on to buying clothes, if there is something left. And I know they say that cheap makeup is the same as the expensive one, but that's not true. Just look at the faces of rich women, who've been using the best products pretty much all their lives and at the faces of other women who would shop in Walgreens and you'll see what I am talking about. Cheap stuff does things to your face, unfortunately, you'll notice it only when it's too late...

As for the hair products, here is the list <a href="http://allwomenstalk.com/7-most-intensive-hair-conditioners-for-damaged-hair/" rel="nofollow">Best Intensive Hair Conditioners for Damaged Hair</a>.

im using dermalogica's special cleansing gel, skin prep scrub (three times a week), ultrasensitive faceblock 25 (morning) and active moist (evening).. i use garnier 2 in 1 eyes n face make up remover at night.. super cheap and great for getting rid of waterproof mascara.. i also use the garnier honey masks when my skin is feeling dry and need of moisture ( theyr like 99p a sachet from boots)

now just looking for the best shampoo..my hairs super dry and chemically treated and coloured any advice???

Neutrogena has a cleanser and lotion that evens out your skin tone. It called visibly even..perfect for those pesky acne scars..it has spf 15 in it too so its also safe to use with ohter topical acne astringents.

I think Classic Beauty is the best for acne because it is oil-free and also has things to heal the skin like anti-oxidents. It is good for sensitive skin also.

I tried the The Body Shop Vitamin E Cream Cleanser. I have a very sensitive skin so I wanted to try something mild. This one was very good for my skin. It is enriched with Vitamin E that is good for the skin. It has that revitalizing effect without the sting.
