According to a U.S Health Newsletter hot flashes may not be the real reason why women in midlife are not getting enough sleep at night. Hot flashes happen when you feel the sudden, intense, hot feeling on your face and upper body preceded by nausea, dizziness, anxiety, headache, weakness or a feeling of suffocation.
In the study done by Harvard Women’s Health Watch shows that even in under the controlled condition in sleep laboratories, there is no connection between hot flashes and sleep disruption. 53 percent of 102 women who reported having difficulty sleeping were found to be suffering from a primary sleep disorder and 56 percent had measurable hot flashes. One fact though about hot flashes is that it is one of the hormonal changes that happen when a woman experiences menopause.
