The cavemen from the Geico insurance ads have a chance of making it big in Hollywood. Writers are preparing a pilot script for ABC that will hopefully persuade company executives to pick up the show.
In the ads, cavemen appear insulted by a Geico pitchman’s claim that the company’s Web site is so easy to use that “even a caveman can do it.”
The potential series, one of 14 pilots that will be produced by Touchstone television this spring, features the cavemen as they “struggle with prejudice on a daily basis as they strive to live the lives of normal thirty-somethings in 2007 Atlanta.”
One can assume that getting a pilot done in Hollywood is so easy that a caveman can do it. Each studio has 13-17 pilot’s for each season. Usually only 2-5 are picked up and become an actual TV series. A caveman movie was made back in 1981 staring Ringo Star and Dennis Quaid, but it featured a different type of caveman species.
