It's incorrect to say 'myriad of.' This is an amateurish mistake and will highlight the fact that you don't know how to properly use the word. An example of proper usage is, "There are myriad squirrels infesting my basement".
Great writing. With my daughter being a high school junior SATs are coming up and I feel this will be crucial to her success as she is a 4.0 + student but lacks the myriad of vocabulary to help her succeed in this standardized test.
Personally, I disagree with this list (for the most part). All of my English teachers have wanted me to get to the point without using big, fancy words. In fact, when longer words are used excessively, it will cause the readers to drown out the writing overall and get caught into a lull. Maybe a big word here and there is okay once in a while, but I think there are better and simpler words to use than these that the English teachers would prefer.
Is this really for adult women? Those are very basic high school vocabulary words. It's insulting to imply that your readers don't already know and "employ" those words in their daily lives.
I would love if you would create additional word/lists. I typed all of these words out and placed them in my children's english notebook. What a lifesaver!!
The best article I have ever read that actually provides good vocabulary with usage in sentences. Thank you so much for writing such a clear and straightforward passage. Thanks a buch!
Is it only me that found the words 'egregious erroneous' together sounds like some kind of spell that could be in harry potter . ps thanks for posting the article was really helpful will be using 'myriad ' of them in my exams form now on.
Excellently produced. I found it easy to extrapolate and obtain the information, thank you so much. Employing these words will certainly increase the standard of my written essays considerably, engendering a higher mark
