I'm 24yo, just at the age when everybody starts nagging about offspring, but ever since I've realized that having children is actually a choice, I've been for childfreedom.
I find my personal freedom absolutely priceless and there is no way I'd let it be taken away from me.
Also, I'm not going to be selfish and add another person to an already terminally overcrowded world just for my own amusement. (Yeah, that's for you, childed person, who thinks that the childfree are selfish. The selfish party is actually you.)

Essence Prince,
Oh the commitment bit scares the hell out of me too! I can't imagine being responsible for another person's life to that degree.
Thanks for taking the time to comment!

@Sheila, I chose not to have kids. It is a huge risk and lifetime committment. You have no idea how your kids will turn out; it is a huge risk to take
Sheila
Thanks for taking the time to comment. It's nice to see that you're sticking by your decision which I assume wasn't easy. I used to think the same way not just about children but marriage as well. I'm still not sure I want children but I have changed my mind about marriage. Maybe I'll get there with children too... maybe not.
Take care and keep visiting!

I am 52, childfree by choice and agree that I can 'borrow' children when I want to help someone out and also have some fun sliding down slides with them and having kid fun without the long term commitment. I knew by age 9 that I wanted to be married, work, and yet not raise a family. My Mom would say wait till you had kids and I'd quip, but I'm not having any!
