…But What if Your Fave Starbucks Store Closes?

ADVERTISEMENTS

Bad news to all the caffeine addicts out there, the management of Starbucks has released a list of the first batch of stores which are getting the axe, and are closing by the end of July.

Starbucks says:
Much thought and consideration was given to each location, because we know the impact this has on our dedicated partners, customers and the communities where we operate. The determination of each store’s closure date is dependent on several operational and contractual factors and events.

Stores in Alabama, Arkansas, California, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Texas and West Virginia

All in all, a total of 600 stores in the US are getting closed. That’s too bad for the almost 12,000 full-time and part-time workers in these stores.

But seriously, do we really need to have a Starbucks branch every which way we turn? One reader from Portland said that close to where he lives, there are 32 Starbucks stores within 2 miles! That’s a lot of stores to get your caffeine fix from!

This is news? Frozen yogurt stores collapsed by the hundred a decade ago, and it got none of this level of press.
