I had a boyfriend I met from my sailing career. We worked perfectly together, cared for each other and supported each from the very first day of our two-month sailing program. He seemed like the perfect guy; he was funny, smart, we had lots in common and could hold interesting conversations for hours and he was good looking too(of course)! Then summer ended and it was time to go back to school *sigh*. We both promised to keep in touch and planned visits, exchanged phone numbers and msn (there was no need in the summer because it was an overnight camp). I know this article is mainly about meeting someone on the internet, but talking from personal experience I think the thing that really kills a relationship is probably going from an environment where you can see the person everyday to one where you see them only a few times a month, and being in the last year of highschool, the probability of a guy staying faithful to a girl he barely sees anymore is pretty low when he sees other girls everyday. So for the younger people on this article, take my advice: if you don't see the guy every second day, it's probably not gonna last.

I am one of those people who met my partner in cyberspace. We took sometimes to get to know each other and am now 7 years married with two handsome kids. I have many friends who have this kind of relationships and are happily married, some even from two different countries.

I do not know about the statistics, but I have two good girlfriends who are happily married to the guys they met online. Mind you, one of them is a foreigner, he is French, and my dear friend Anna lives in Monmartre, Paris now. Take that, expert! :)
