At a Birthday Dinner, Who Should Pay For the Meal?
The guests should split the bill. Everyone should pay for part of the birthday girl/guy's meal.
The birthday girl/guy should pay.
Everyone should pay for his or her own meal.
It depends on the restaurant, the guests, and the birthday girl/guy.

We all know Bobby Flay, Wolfgang Puck, Thomas Keller, and loads of other celebrity chefs, but have you heard of Zakary Pelaccio, Nate Appleman, or April Bloomfield? This weekend marked the First Annual Pebble Beach Food & Wine event, and let me tell you, it was definitely a lavish affair. While the full shebang would have cost you $4,750 â€" including lodging for the 4 day affair, as well as admission to all the events, including classes, seminars, parties and tastings â€" a single-day Grand Tasting Pass cost only $165. Pennies in comparison.

OK, I'm assuming this is a Pizza Hut's way of playing a practical April Fool's joke on all of its customers, but you never can tell these days. It could just be and oddly-timed marketing scheme.
This morning, the Pizza Hut chain unveiled new signage declaring they're now serving pasta so good that they've decided to change their name. The dishes that inspired the name change are the Creamy Chicken Alfredo and Meaty Marinara. The 3-lb. servings â€" that are ...

I love the idea of recycling old wine bottles to create something new and useful. While dining at Bar Bambino â€" where I was inspired by their leather napkin rings â€" I couldn't help but notice the industrial yet chic chandelier. Empty wine bottles have been filled with tiny lights before being geometrically attached to a large wooden plank and drilled in to the ceiling. It definitely added an artistic feel to the restaurant and dining ...

We've all been in crazy situations and I want to know how you handle entertaining blusters and bad restaurant behavior. Much like our What Would You Make feature, I'll present a situation and you tell me what you would do.
Here's the scenario: you're at a neighborhood restaurant for brunch. One of the dishes you order is a salad. To your dismay the salad appears with something not mentioned on the menu: a live slug! When you call the waitress ...

YumJimmy took me out for a fancy-pants dinner on my birthday, and I was surprised to see that they brought out a birthday dessert plate at the end of our meal. The place was too upscale for singing â€" which was okay for me â€" but it got me wondering, what do you think of special birthday treats from restaurants?

Earlier I mentioned that Top Chef contestant Richard Blais helmed several restaurants in the past. One of them was his own eponymous Blais, in which there was a 31-course tasting menu. Learn what it was like to eat there, warning, the photos are going to make you drool. â€" The Amateur Gourmet

I will not eat green eggs and ham. I will not eat them . . . Oh, who am I kidding, you guys know that I will eat just about anything, so of course I would eat green eggs and ham. Now I could either make them myself, or I could head to IHOP.
To tie into the release of the new Horton Hears a Who movie, IHOP is offering a Dr. Seuss-inspired menu. From now until April 20, ...

A lot of places are offering online ordering, and recently some of the folks at the Sugar HQ have taken to placing their lunch orders ahead of time. I haven't joined the bandwagon yet, but I was wondering, do you ever order online?

Do You Ever Order Food Online?
Sure, it makes things easy, why not?

Recently my girlfriend went to sushi with her BF. She made the mistake of ordering a roll that featured unagi â€" Japanese eel â€" as the main ingredient. She didn't want to send it back, but it was definitely not something she felt comfortable eating. Luckily her boyfriend ended up eating the unagi, however her story left me wondering. What do you do when you accidentally order something out of your comfort zone?

Last week food blogger Sam Breach recounted an incident where her late â€" as in less than an hour before closing time â€" reservation caused the staff to rush her through her meal. I personally thought it was unacceptable, why take a reservation so close to closing time if you're only going to rush people out? Yet I must admit, I don't like making reservations so late, mostly because I'm worried of being rushed out. So tell me, ...

Does It Bother You When Restaurants Don't Seat Incomplete Parties?
Yes, it drives me insane. If the majority of our group is here, we should be able to sit at a table.
No, if a restaurant is super crowded, I understand that they have to give a table to a completed party.
Other â€" I'll tell you what I think about this below.

We recently asked you to choose your favorite restaurant chef of 2007. The response was surprising and 28 percent of you said that Grant Achatz of Chicago's Alinea was your fave in 2007. Unfortunately, I've never made it to Alinea and am actually not that familiar with Achatz's work â€" which seems like a crime as his reputation is fantastic â€" so I'm going to have to go with my personal fave. Here at San Francisco-based ...
