Fab Times at New York Fashion Week

Fab Times at New York Fashion Week

You heard about my fashion week fumbles, but that's just a result of the stars not aligning quite right this time around. Though it's a fast and furious week, it's a fabulous week. I wouldn't have it be any different, really. Although having a town car take me from show to show would be a-mazing. One can dream right? Now that I've sifted through the runway looks, chosen my favorites, started a mental wish list, and gotten over ...

Not So Fab Fashion Week Fumbles

Not So Fab Fashion Week Fumbles

Fashion Weeks are fun and fabulous. But no one really talks about what happens on the way to the fashion show: the running around, lack of sleep, perpetual "where is my seat (if I even have one)?" question, outfit self-consciousness and, in my case, the fumbles you take along the way. After another week of all of the above, though, I feel a unique sense of elated exhaustion. Annabelle too, after two weeks at her grandparents' house, felt ...

New York Fashion Week, Fall 2008 Jenni Kayne

New York Fashion Week, Fall 2008 Jenni Kayne

Olsen pal Jenni Kayne brings a piece of LA to the New York scene â€" and I, for one, am glad she does. Her Fall collection is a nice balance of grunge-inspired plaids, fine tuned menswear pieces, and maxi-length feminine skirts and dresses.

Prints and bright hues are sparse, but when they do show up, the leopard, fuchsia, patchwork, and yellow all work to great effect. Below the knee pencil skirts, sheaths, fur trim, and neutral colors reflect the ...

Fall 2008 Beauty Trend Glitter Eye

Fall 2008 Beauty Trend Glitter Eye

Filed under: Cosmetics, Fashion Week: New York

I love glitter. I mean what girl doesn't like the shiny stuff? I have been wearing glitter on my eyes for years and years. I can clearly remember myself as a teen heading off to baby-sit with a fresh coat of glitter on my eyelids only to hear my mother shout "Get that crap off of your eyes, you will scare the kids." Newsflash ...

Sophia Bush At New York Fashion Week

Sophia Bush At New York Fashion Week

Sophia Bush attended more shows than other celebrity this New York Fashion Week.

Does she really love fashion that much, or does she just have nothing else better to do?

I hope it was the former, but suspect the latter.

I favoured her BCBG Max Azria ensemble.

Marc Jacobs Fall 2008

Marc Jacobs Fall 2008

It is very rare that I dislike an entire collection, but nothing appealed to me from Marc Jacobs Fall 2008 collection.

It had a very samey feeling from some of the pieces, the colours palette consisted of yellow and blue pastels, which is not fitting for a fall collection for me, the styling was all over the place and the masculine pieces were even too masculine for Tilda Swinton.

I know many say he is a genius and an artist, but ...

Reem Acra Fall 2008

Reem Acra Fall 2008

Reem Acra didn't disappoint in her Fall 2008 presentation. Her collection mostly consisted of sleek and prim silhouettes of nipped-in waists with knee-length skirts.

A mixture of different shades of purple were on display in satins, silks, chiffons and feathers.

The ombre trend of Spring 2008 was evident in this collection, as was embellishments of the red carpet gowns.

One of my favourite pieces was the nude gown embellished with black laser cutouts, very sexy and risky, but would ...

New York Fashion Week, Fall 2008: Rodarte FABSUGAR (read full article)

If someone were to costume design a sci-fi ballerina flick, the result might be something like Rodarte’s Fall 2008 collection. Tattered loosely-knit fishnets, super studded gloves and Louboutin heels, and Degas-inspired tutus: they were all there.

New York Fashion Week, Fall 2008 The Project Runway Finale Show (!)

New York Fashion Week, Fall 2008 The Project Runway Finale Show (!)

Fashion week is coming to close and I just experienced my grand finale. How exciting is it to attend the Project Runway finale show?! Very.

I knew it would be a mob scene getting in, and luckily I was on the list (you never know sometimes). I wasn't too far in the nosebleeds â€" and I was directly facing the panel of judges and celebs. Tons of Project Runway alums were mingling in the crowd, including recent cast ...

Naeem Khan Fall 2008

Naeem Khan Fall 2008

Now this is red carpet glamour. Marchesa had it yesterday, but Naeem Khan took it to the next level with his breathtaking show.

There were lots of graphic prints, exotic prints, lace, gold beading, feathers, sequins, dramatic trains, cocktail dress, floor length gowns and silk wide leg trousers.

My favourite dresses were the sexy leopard print strapless gown with the beaded bust. I loved the dramatic deep green feathered floor-length skirt with a sequined top.

Now that ...

New York Fashion Week, Fall 2008 VPL amp Exclusive Designer Interview!

New York Fashion Week, Fall 2008 VPL amp Exclusive Designer Interview!

I've talked about VPLs numerous times on Fab but haven't mentioned VPL as much. Allow me to clarify. VPL by Victoria Bartlett does play on visible panty lines, but it's seen as a good thing in her world. I've been coveting one of Victoria Bartlett's color contrast bra-like tops for a while now and was excited to see her unique bodycon creations in the flesh, or rather, in the fabric. VPL celebrates contrast and contradiction and the designer ...

New York Fashion Week, Fall 2008 3.1 Phillip Lim

New York Fashion Week, Fall 2008 3.1 Phillip Lim

When Phillip Lim is inspired by David Bowie's character The Man Who Fell to Earth and Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac, the resulting collection is full of sheer fabrics, satin, Swarovski crystals dotted here and there, and even a little glam gold.

The hems are much more modest on this Lim collection than they have been in the past: the skirts and dresses all hit right at knee-length, if not below. The matronly feel was carried through ...

Battle of the Gucci Newton vs. Rihanna

Battle of the Gucci Newton vs. Rihanna

I don't know who helped these PYTs select their green Gucci dresses but whoever did did an excellent job. Reason being: the shades of green perfectly complement the skin tones of both ladies. Elegant and fresh, which green Gucci rules?

Rihanna is edgy but elegant with that leather band and black clutch.
