See more Valentino handbags from this show
Girly girls rejoice! The uber-feminine handbags at Valentino’s spring runway show hit all the right girly spots, with sweet pink and purple metallic purses (bows? check. braided handles? check.) kicked off the show. An indigo bag with pintucked details provided a pop of color, while a multicolored patchwork number with gold handles offered a unique spin on the ubiquitous crocodile trend. Color was everywhere - from a slender purple clutch to ...

See more purses from the Burberry show
So long, checks. Burberry’s Milan Spring 2008 show signalled a departure from the classic preppy prints the label is known for. Instead, we saw modern woven croc shoulder bags with drawstring closures; Bottega Veneta-esque woven hobos; ornamental zippers, studs, buttons, and brooches; striped canvas with croc trim; gold crocodile fanny packs clutched in the models’ hands like a bag of nickels; and oversized gold and black purses with metal studs.

See more desgner purses from Versace’s runway show
Talk about range. The purses at Versace’s Spring 2008 show veered from safe (if unspired) smooth leather handbags in neutral tones to large avant garde bags in coiled leather that, frankly, resembled intestinal lining. Tassles got their due, as did chunky plait-like bag handles. Obviously coiling and gathering was a big theme, from the afore-mentioned bags to a stylishly ruched clutch in blue. Highlights included a vibrant apple green ostrich ...

Snakes, crocs, and color, oh my! There was a lot of fun to be had at the Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2008 show, where purses ranged from the sleek and sophisticated to the kooky and playful. The former category included a sublime beige crocodile shopper with two front pouches, as well as a glam black croc bowler that oozed luxury. On the funky side were colorful snakeskin bags in ...
See more designer purses from Prada’s show
Got color? The purses shown at the spring Prada show certainly did, brightening the runway in a burst of greens, blues, violets, gold, and oranges. Most of the handbags were bags folded in half to become petite clutches boasting colorful stripes and waves. While it came off as a bit Austin Powers meets kindergarten, the vibrant hues and mod appeal were infectious - and the perfect way to liven up a drab ...
See more Chloe purses from this show
Somebody’s been taking some origami classes. The supermodel-thin, asymmetrical clutches in pretty purple, pale blue, and brandy crocodile leather looked as though they’d been created by a waiter at a Chinese restaurant. I found them lovely and delicate, but ultimately impractical unless a) you’re on the “Sex and the City” set or b) able to manage with a single credit card and perhaps a matchbook. Besides the origami-chic bags, Chloe also ...
See more Hermes bags from the runway show
Victoria Beckham can sleep easy tonight, as there were a slew of Hermes purses for their No. 1 fan to sink her teeth into at the Hermes Spring 2008 show in Paris. Chestnut, white, honey, green, a bizarre burgundy/orange/red crocodile creation, and (my favorite) an intense teal ostrich Birkin - there were lots of eye candy for Hermes purists, including clutches and an odd padlock-shaped evening bag. But ultimately ...
