No, Not Strawberries, Strasberries

No, Not Strawberries, Strasberries

Do you prefer strawberries or raspberries? If you can't decide then let me introduce you to strasberries, the fruit that falls somewhere between strawberries and raspberries. The fruit was "born" in the early 1900s, but disappeared from markets until Dutch farmers rediscovered them several years ago. Originally a type of wild strawberry, the strasberries have become a big hit in Europe due to their "unique, aromatic flavour." If you're interested in trying them, you'll have to head across the ...

Britian’s Curry Crisis

Britian’s Curry Crisis

It seems that the US is not the only country dealing with immigration issues. In England, the government uses a point-based system to determine migration by non-EU citizens. While this may be a good move for security reasons, it is actually bad for food reasons. You see, over the last several decades, many believe that curry has become England's "true national dish". However, thanks to the immigration restrictions, many of Britain's curry houses are suffering from a ...

Gordon Ramsay to Open His Own Culinary School

Gordon Ramsay to Open His Own Culinary School

If several hit television shows, a video game, Michelin star restaurants, and cookbooks weren't enough, Gordon Ramsay is planning to launch a UK chef academy. He's doing so in order to fight what he sees as poor standards of UK catering colleges. If the folks on Kitchen Nightmares (UK) are any indication of the standards, then maybe Gordon's onto something. At the recent opening of his new restaurant in Prague, Ramsay said:

I’m fed up not just ...

Are Recipes By Female Chefs More Complicated Than Those By Male Chefs?

The UK Department of Innovation, Universities and Skills recently completed a study that looked at 35 recipes published by five UK celebrity chefs " Jamie Oliver, Delia Smith, Nigella Lawson, Gordon Ramsay and Nigel Slater. It turns out that while these folks make cooking look simple, their recipes can be difficult to follow. Actually, of the five chefs, only the recipes from the two women chefs were considered overly complicated.

While Gordon Ramsay's recipes were ...

Elizabeth Hurley Weds in England

Elizabeth Hurley Weds in England

Actress Elizabeth Hurley and swimwear boss Arun Nayar tied the knot today at a castle in England.  The religious ceremony was proceeded by a civil ceremony the day before at the same castle.

At the religious service on Saturday, guests included Elton John (who arrived by helicopter, stepping out in a blue-and-white tracksuit) and husband David Furnish, Elle Macpherson, Yasmin Le Bon, designer Valentino, Prince Pavlos of Greece, shoe designer Patrick Cox, style guru Trinny Woodhall, Jimmy Choo president Tamara Mellon and actress Patsy Kensit.Hurley’s 4-year-old son, Damian, was chauffered to the castle in a Bentley.

John gave Hurley away at the service, which was to open with the hymn “Praise My Soul.” Bride and groom and the entire bridal party were outfitted in Versace, and the rings were by Chopard.

The Rev. John Partington, who conducted the religious service, told PEOPLE early Saturday that, like many modern brides, Hurley would not promise to obey Nayar. Instead, she would likely vow to “love him, comfort him, honor and keep him, in sickness and in health.”

It is the first marriage for Hurley and the second for Nayar.  Hurley’s son Damien is from her prior relationship with film producer Steve Bing. She also had a lengthy relationship with actor Hugh Grant several years ago.
